I put the lower-temp switch on years & years ago and never looked back. After a fast run down the hwy, the fan is never on. It won't kick back on until I've made it nearly all the way in my drive (800' running dead slow due to gravel). I can still achieve nearly 40mpg running up around 80mph. My 85 gets better mileage running near 80 as it does maintaining 60mph. Although I can say that I used to get better mpg with 100% dino gas than I currently do using this 10% ethanol crud.
The best thing I like about the cooler auto-switch is that I never have to worry about my bike running up in the hotter part of the guage. I KNOW it's going to kick the fan on, and I don't have to remember to do it. Too easy, and that's the way I like it cause I'm lazy that way.
