Sounds odd. I know fueling could be a bit better, but the idle has always been solid at 1k rpm for me, so maybe something was dislodged (?). I performed this process a few months ago - maybe give it a shot. http://vmax.lvlhead.com/tips/shotgun.htm

I missed this thread! That's what I get for being off line for a few days. Jeff congrats on buying my bike! You'll enjoy it. As I shared with you, I didn't want to sell it. I bought it late last year with the intent that it replace my Triumph which I've racked up enough miles on, and I...

    Even MORE excitement for me!

Oh man what a drag! Sorry to hear it. About 10 years back I had a similar situation, and though my ankle didn't break, it was close to it - foot was pinned and my body's momentum was in a different direction. Since then I rarely ride without proper MC boots that have build in ankle armor (I...

Mega Thread ' Post your day rides here '

This weekend some friends and I attempted to ride to a meetup in South Western Wisconsin, but due to a rain front in that area, we rode West to Galena IL and eventually made our way back to Chicago via what back roads we could. Aside from getting caught in a few downpours, and one riding mate...

Happy with how it turned out

Wow, that's awesome. Would love to see it sometime. Where do you tend to ride in the area?

Anyone with MAD MAX chaindrive swingarm please read

This is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Dupont-Multi-Use-Lubricant-oz-Spray/dp/B000GL19TY Leaves almost no residue or film that you can see, and lasts a long time. Since switching it to it, I've yet to find any fling-off on any part of my bike: tail, cases, signals, etc.

Slimey Crud Run this SUNDAY in WI. Midwesterners come on out!

This Sunday is the Slimey Crud Run in WI (Wisconsin): http://www.slimeycrudrun.com/ Myself and about 3-5 others are riding out from the Chicago area. If you haven't been on this ride before, it's an incredible turn out of just about any bike you can think of.

Anyone with MAD MAX chaindrive swingarm please read

Donnelly, Clean your chain with kerosene and a rag to get rid of the excess grease, then spray it with Dupont teflon wax spray, ideally when the chain is warm after a ride. It leaves a dry film that does not attract dust / dirt and will not fling off. I've used the spray on 2 chain-drive...

    My 96's new addition

Last weekend I installed an oil pressure gauge, which I put together following the tips available online - thanks guys! I found it to be an under 30 minute install, including heat-shrinking some electrical insulation to keep it clean - remember to slide this stuff on before attaching the braided...

An older pic of my first '96 Vmax which I painted black (it was originally red - a Canadian bike). Pictured just past Whistler BC - the "usual" ride Vancouver based motorcyclists take on the weekend. Beautiful scenery that I miss!

My gal and I managed to get a few miles in this past Sunday, riding north from Chicago IL up to Kenosha WI, via the lake front. Along the way we stopped to take in the architecture of the "Bahai" temple - apparently the only one in North America. Very interesting structure and not as old as I...

Re: Swingarm brace / bracing design thoughts & theory - your experience/ opinion plea Thanks for all the good posts and info gents. Any more images, please post them up! FWIW, I got started on cutting and shaping some 1inch OD 16ga mild steel tubing for my swingarm. I also cut and bent a...

    Engine Shipping options?

Hi all, Quick update on this topic. 1./ Thank you all for your suggestions - some very good ideas I hadn't considered before. 2./ I ended up shipping the motor (a Triumph Triple 955cc mill) from Chicago to LA for $149.00 using Forward Air. They ship airport to airport, and go by weight and...

    Michigan helmet law repealed.

Now we all can enjoy the imposition of someone else's "freedom" on us, when they get killed in a minor off instead of a few scratches and back on the road. Traffic deaths take a lot longer to sort out then a minor crunch. Not to mention the psychological trauma experienced by those around it...

    Need a throttle sleeve

Re: Need a throttle sleeve - diameter consideration When you get it, check the diameter of the throttle cam compared to a Vmax one. If larger, the throttle will open more for any degree of rotation by your hand on the grip portion. Opposite if smaller. It's a common mod on early Triumph...
