3 days( 21st) I go under the knife. I am nervous ,scarred as hell. I have heard all kinds of stories good n bad on the surgery I am having. I have 4 blown disc in my back but there is 1 that is very close to my spinal cord & it's causing my legs to go numb & a shock feeling and no muscle control to them. I hope3 my days of bike riding will continue & not have to ride a trike ...

Hell , since I'll be praying for Dman and Sheldon I'll throw some in for you too. You'll be alright just LISTEN to the dr's for the recovery , you'll be good to go .

NHV, a prayer for you and the surgeon sir. Hope you were able to find a good Orthopedic /Spine specialist. I broke my spine in eight pieces in 91 and have little to no problems today. Just recently found additional fractures up high on the spine that were overlooked. Never knew about it until last year.
Pain meds may be your friend for a while. For me, I was on and then off the Oxys no problem but of course everyone is different.
Hope you can type us an update when you get fixed.
Best wishes Man!

Good luck Wayne....two things you should avoid, 1) reading the warning info for prescription meds and 2) Listening to the horror stories people seem more than willing to tell you just before your surgery.

Just expect, hell...DEMAND that it all goes in your favor....and it will! :punk:

Wayne, My prayers go out to you... Best of Luck... Technology for Spine Surgery is so advanced, everything should go perfect. Surgery, when possible is the fastest fix. Thinking good thoughts for You till this is done and you're riding....

In 1997, I was involved in a head on collision. An 83 YO had missed his Doctors Office and U Turned head on with me. I had been in several accidents over the years and was disabled because of them. This one almost put me in a wheel chair. It took me away from riding for the next 7 years. I just couldn't hold a bike up.

We spoke with the best Neuro Surgeon in our area shortly after the accident and he spent 45 minutes with us. Saying that I had so many injuries, he didn't feel confident that he could fix enough in one session. He felt that I would never get back out of bed because of the "Down Time", if I were to have surgery and suggested that when I could no longer deal with the pain or couldn't walk he would operate. He told me to fight back all that I could, anything that would strengthen my back. Short ending. I bought a 19' boat in really, really sad shape and worked my butt off for whatever time I could in a day. When I got the boat finished, I was putting in a lot of hours per day. Today, my back is in fairly good shape considering. I still have a lot of pain at times but I'm able to ride. I just ride faster and not for long distances as I once did...:clapping:

Wow thanks for the response guys. Overwhelming for sure. As one can expect it can be worry some but for the most part (until wed) I am ok . Gina will come on my name for me & let everyone know how it turned out. Steveoo Gina will also call you to let you know whats up. This surely isn't 1/2 of what Sheldon & Natalie is going threw as we all still pray for his recovery & her strength. Thanks allot guys it means much to me ..:)

I don't party much any more but might just have to give your yankee ass a late night call to make you laugh.:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

Good luck Wayno! You know that I have been through a similar back surgery, and I can honestly tell you that you will come out of this 100% better. Worse part is that you had to suffer so long before getting relief. Do your therapy exersizes, and DON'T OVER DO IT while you are healing!!!! Lay on the couch, watch tv, take your meds, and smile. Praying for you Bro!!!!

Good luck on the surgery. I have similar back issues also and I know that living with it from day to day can be difficult. Praying that your will be pain free after surgery and recovery.
