Pitting on engine

Ive got pitting on my motor and scoops. Has anybody else had this problem?

I believe it's the clear coat finish . I removed the clear coat and polished the scoops . They came out rather nice but I'm thinking of getting them chromed with some other parts .
 
Yep, chrome is the only way to go! The corrosion you have is very common.

I decided to take on the task of cleaning up the valve covers while I was replacing the gaskets. I cleaned them using a red pad on my die grinder then went over them with a red scotch pad and finally a new cote of dupli color clear engine enamel. The job was pretty easy and I really like the results.

Those don't seem to be plated because the backs don't seem to be very clean. are the polished or painted? He calls them "remanufactured to a thing of beauty"
 
Good job they look nice. Mind pitted just like yours.

I had Sean paint me a set valve covers. I did not feel like massing with them.
And still have not install them yet.
