There is no check valve, that is a reducer connector. I also thought it was a check valve until I checked it out.

I just replaced the wires on my 85 and if there is a screw in the coils I screwed this up lol.

The screw is in the plug cap, the coil is a push in with a rubber olive around the wire to hold it when tightened.

The idle needs to be at 1000 for the charging system to put out enough voltage
