The weight difference between a BMW K1200R with and without ABS is about 11 pounds. With a chain, no ABS, and a light exhaust the Vmax would be a whole lot lighter.

the new V-Max is heavy but from the looks of the 2nd gear power slides i have seen on video the new V-Max has way better handling than the old Max :th_rockon:
I rode the 09 at the Star Demo rides in Daytona.
And I can attest it does handle far better than 1st Gens. It's no way near the same feel of riding. Totally different bikes.

We'll assume this is a very good thing! What other opinions do you have of the '09?

Other than being a totally different animal.
I think it is well worth the 18 grand. Bike ran extremely smooth. The weight is not a factor at all as far as handling. It was much easier for me to handle the bike than the 1st Gen.
The bike handles like one solid piece, no flexing or mushiness (technical term LOL) at all, it was like riding a surfboard with a seat, totally solid.
And the throttle response was immediate and authoritative at any rpm in any gear.
The only negative thing I found was that my knees get pushed out by the scoops, so the foot controls were a bit awkward.

Great to hear, thanks for the info! I'm 6' tall so I'm sure my knees will be pushed out by the scoops as well, still, I can hardly wait for it to get here! It just started snowing today (it's going to be a long Winter). :bang head:

That's the spirit, I feel the same way. When is yours due to arrive, I forgot when you said it was?

Sorry for the long reply time, the internet crashes from time to time over here. My bike will arrive in February, a long, cold month after I get back to the States. But that'll give me time to get used to being back in the States... and get used to American driving laws again. :)

6 footer here, too. And when I found out my delivery time-frame, I invested in some Under Armour cold weather gear. I just hope it's not a snowy winter in North Carolina.

Great to hear!! Mine is also due sometime in February, then I figure I'll have another 2 months or so before I can get it out on the road - have to wait for that first good rainfall to wash the roads off!

or maybe your just not that good? like one of those idiot riders you mentioned earlier......

sorry but that was just begging to be pointed out....

Yeah thats what it was I cant dragrace a motorcycle. I get the most out of my motorcycles before mechanical failure, and my fastest 60ft time here on this forum with a stock wheelbase VMAX and oem rear rim... Along with track championships and numerous dragracing events.

Your lucky that I took that much time to respond to that ignorant statement.

Being in North Carolina, I'll just have to wait for a warm day. And I'm only about two hours from Myrtle Beach, SC. I can't wait to turn heads.

What do you consider warm? I will ride while it's in the 40's! Coldest I've ever ridden in was 28.

Coldest I've ridden was about -15 C back in France. That's about 5 F I believe.

I was a teen back then, and didn't go much further than about 8 miles for work, but I don't think I could have even if I wanted to - gloves just weren't working lol

Damn. I'd say about 50's or more. Being from the south, I'm not used to the cold. I guess I'm about to get used to it. There is already snow on the peaks here. :Snowmobile:
