I did get the Odyssey running good and took it for a good ride with no issues. I think my main is still too small, since the exhaust temps still creep up too high as you get near WOT.

Same issue with the ody....the airbox is a huge PITA to get back on, and with it on, the carb sits in this little valley with the engine to the front, the clutches to the left, the fuel tank to the right, and the skid plates a few inches under it. With a little tiny stubby screwdriver, I can sneak my hand down and adjust the air screw, but the bowl screw is in-accessible. Have to pull the carb to change jets, which means getting the airbox back on afterward.

Actaully found the easiest was to get the boot back on the carb is to get it "close", start the motor, rev it up, the just slap my palm over the snorkel's inlet to the box. The resulting vacuum goes *shoomp* and sucks the boot onto the carb.

Update....played with it a little more, and now it's spot on, both with EGTs and plug color (a dark brown)

So just for the record(since I couldn't find any solid info about jetting this thing, and the Odyssey forum went down from hackers)
Mikuni VM34 carb (round slide) 34mm
Stock motor, reeds, and pipe
Airbox snorkel removed, holes drilled in air deflector, 1-way valve from airbox drain removed
#270 main jet(standard Mikuni hex)
#50 pilot jet (small slotted non-bleeder type)
Air screw 1 turn out
Needle on 2nd clip from pointy end
Ambient temp around 40*

It's noticeably stronger than with the 240 main, and doesn't have that lean "tink tink" in the midrange anymore. WOT temps are right around 1000*. Puttering around in the midrange they hang out 8-900, and only climb toward 1000 on sustained high rpm....climbing hills, ect. Idle is around 4-500* hot motor. Plug is a very dark mocha, rather than a darkish gray with the #240. Idle is smooth and steady @ 1200rpm. No bogging, no hesitations, runs like a dream.
