I still say if your looking for pure performance the Marks 4 into 1 the kerker & the old style Hindle make the best power in my opinion. Maybe not the best looking but it all depends on what your looking for.

Whats the best sounding exhaust fro vmax?

Cobras - lose power, but look cool.

For me, the Cobras have the perfect sound, but that is just my personal opinion. Yes, you do lose power, but from what I have found on the street and on the dyno, the only lost power was at the very top of the RPM range, and to be honest, I rarely see it that high. I topped out at 100hp at the wheel.

Dave is right that they do look cool. I also feel that they are the BEST looking exhaust made for the 1st Gen max. They look like they could easily be factory, and they are a more trim package.

Lastly, on the plus side, they are a LOT lighter than the stock mufflers.

For me, they are the right exhaust. Whether or not they are right for you... that will have to be your call. It all depends on what you want from your bike.

I just put a Marks on mine. 14inch cans with 2 inch openings. Sounds great. I love the deep tone especially at idle. I can't see why anyone would say it's not loud enough.

About UFO Classic Megaphones, is the sound high and raspy as it seems to be in all the videos I have watched? 2,5" endcaps would be too loud for me (I think), so maybe going for 1,5" SBD's. Just not sure about the tone they make. And are they made of stainless, or just normal steel with ceramic coating?

The raspy sound is a pissed off growl . I would check with ufo ( Mike) see if he does loaners on end caps to see what you like best. Worth a try cause videos just doesn't do justice for any exhaust .

UFO's are steel with ceramic coating

I have a 4-1 megaphone setup. I bought it used and the PO replaced the packing. Its really not raspy at all. Not sure if they are with the packing UFO supplies? It is EXTREMELY LOUD with the 2.5" endcaps. The smaller caps do make a big difference. Its still loud though.

+1, actually I prefer the 4 into 1 look myself and I love my Kerker :)

Ok, thanks for the info. I prefer two silencers is better by looks, my friend has 4 to 1 Hindle and that sounds awesome though! I have Kerker slip-ons now, I like how they sounds but not so much of the looks.. Bought them used last winter. I think that I put the whole system now, because it feels stupid to buy new expensive slip-ons and put them on to my rusty stock headers.
Has anyone had any rust on UFO's? I really like that stainless would be better for headers..

UFO doesn't make stainless anymore, they used to back when their exhaust had "cans". Now they are ceramic coated steel. If you ride in dry weather and keep the bike garaged and clean, it should go a very long time without rusting. The coating is pretty durable but it will scratch and get stone chips in it.

Holeshot and Marks both make a 4-2 exhaust in stainless if that is what you prefer.

I eventually had my stainless sytem ceramic coated anyway, Much less maintenance. Polishing stainless is a complete and total major pain in the ass if the bike is a true rider and gets baked on road grime grease and tar etc...I started out taking super good care of my, cleaning it and removing the crap every single time it was parked....eventually tho it happened less and less.....

Stainless will rust anyway, not much, not alot, and will probably never do more than surface rust, But for stainless to have the mallebility to be used for bendy stuff it has a certain amount of carbon in it, which means it'll develop surface rust to a degree, will still probably last forever it just won't look like that chrome finish you started with.

Now if it's a bike that'll never see bad weather and gets wiped down and degrimed often and every single time it's put away then polished stainless might do.....

All thats just my opinion tho'

Hard to beat ceramic coated stainless, but this expensive "top of the line" manufacturer should use stainless as default IMO. So much better than mild steel, because when the coating gets ding through the corrosion starts, no polishing after that lol. And I drive bad weather, gravel roads etc so durability is one thing to consider..
