Carb 3 & 4 mixture screws do nothing

That's so weird that we are all getting different results using the casting circle on the jet block why is that?

There are variables....as you mentioned, the casting circle is on the jet block which is manufactured seperately, not all jet blocks will be in the same relative position in the carb body due to tolerance swings. Also, the needle seats are not always shouldered in the carb body as they should be and I have seen seats that have a deeper shoulder than others....maybe from different manufacturers...:confused2:

I have definitely learned my lesson.. Next time I will not mix up the floats and hopefully they won't need any adjustment..

Try to not mix up anything. I made some of these divider things and can work on multiple sets at the same time without ever mixing up so much as a screw.
And stay organized.

Does it matter seeing everything is being replaced w new gaskets, orings etc? I can see not mixing up the needles n seat if there not being replaced..:ummm:

Certainly screws could be mixed up but slides & diaphrams, shut-offs, jet needles and needle jets, etc. should probly be replaced where they were. Altho, 99% of the time, or maybe 99.9%, it may not matter, or only slightly if it did matter.

OK you had me scared cause I soaked all my parts together in a tub of carb acid /solution. Jet blocks, jets, emoltion tubes etc.

I'm usually careful about the slides assemblies and the float assemblies plus the choke pieces specifics to particular carbs.
Engraved the carbs with numbers too first time rebuild.
I've had these apart at least 8 times in 8 years "playing" with tuning and only the last time did any parts get replaced, which was the jet block gasket. Usually all they ever needed was cleaning,

I'm sure you'll be fine NH, there can't be much, if any, variation in those parts....I'm just overly fussy I guess, a parts soak for each carb.

i can't imagine it makes a difference either. esp the metal parts. rubber ones maybe, bedding in and such. but even then if the metal parts are the same, the wear on the rubber will be the same. i agree 99.9xx% its fine.

You know how I am Garrett....if it ain't exactly dead nuts perfect....then it's wrong!!

There's just no grey area! :rofl_200:

oh i understand. after saying my comments, i'm still one to tape off, mark off and place the individual parts in their separate boxes. but if i mixed something up i'm sure it'd be fine (esp if i didn't notice) heh.

I try to be organized but it never really works out for me. I start out with a clean workbench. I grab all the tools I think I will need to do the job and lay them out and then start my work. Somehow, by the end of the job, it looks like a bomb went off on the bench because there is **** everywhere :biglaugh:. My issue is mainly the tools. I get into what I'm doing and it seems like it takes too long to put it back where it should go before I grab another cause I want to keep moving.

I do keep track of what came from where. Luckily (or maybe, no so) my wife is even more disorganized than me. It takes her a long time to notice that I forgot to bring the box of baggies, or glad press n seal or whatever back up to the kitchen for its intended purpose of sealing up food and not engine parts.

Well I adjusted all the floats with the fuel line connected and charged.. Now I'm back to carbs 3 & 4 mixture screws not working. Who can take a look at these and charge me accordingly? I have too many hours into this and it's becoming a waste of my time. I have other things to do..

Dannymax..... Or Sean, or Kyle. But I had danny do my work and am very pleased with it.

I find when I do my bench test you need a good supply of fuel or head pressure if your using the line and bottle method which works great. Also I have the rack split....one carb at a time and flat on the bench to help get consistent settings.....

Also when reassembling the rack that they are level when the screws get tightened as that will through off the level......

Hope it helps.....
Did you ever do a compression test?
