According to the news this bike is like 162HP,94 lb.-ft., 1198cc engine.
463lbs wet weight.

IMHO it looks like someone from bolognia mixed a v-rod and vmax.

Id say no thanks mr Ducardley!

I like it. Especially the carbon version. No way I would pay 20K for a motorcycle unless I was a millionaire but, I still like it.

Not a fan of all the high tech stuff though. Fly by wire throttle, different "riding modes", servo motor for easier clutch pull, ABS, etc..... I'd rather just have a good handling bike with a powerful motor without all the electronic gizmos so I could work on it myself without needing an engineering degree.

Update, from http://www.ultimatemotorcycling.com/2011-ducati-diavel-preview

The Ducati Diavel features a Testastretta 11-degree engine pushing 162 horsepower, a dry weight of 456 lbs. and the latest in Ducati technology: ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes.

$17K for the base model, $20K for the carbon model.

I like the look of it, all except the look of the scoops. When I looked at the bike here in Dallas, the scoops were kind of a mottled, plasticy looking finish. Other than that...pure sex. Can't wait for the shootouts with the VMax.

I'm with you on that Tom, on the CF version they blend in much nicer! Let the shootouts begin!:punk:

Will definitely be interesting to see how it fares against the Gen 2, or a heavily modified Gen 1:biglaugh:. Given the HP numbers are pretty close, the Duc is down on torque a bit, and the Gen 2 weighs in at ~200 lbs or more heavier might get dicey either way.:confused2:

According to the ducati sales rep,the ducati wins. they (ducati)bought a gen 2 for testing against the Ducati. My son tells me I will have a chance to ride the one they(the dealer he works at) gets, with the weather as it is it wont be to spring.

If the Duc proves to be faster, I'd like to see how, or more appropriately "if", Yamaha responds. I certainly hope Yamaha doesn't decide to leave the Gen2 largely static in terms of performance throughout its life. In 1,700 ccs, there's got to be lots, lots left in that motor, if their lawyers will let them provide it.

Brocks is working on a 4-2-1 with a custom map and along with the big air mod they are getting over 200 hp/ 130+ tq on pump fuel! :punk:
Indeed there is some tuning mama Yamaha can do!:th_favorites24:

say it aint so! :(

that burn out was so sad....

the duplicati max

at least they didnt name it the V-cati or something so it wasnt TOTALLY obvious it was an imitator like the vrod

"oh man how are we gonna present this bike?? whats that bike called in the design room??? oh ya a vmax... go google that and see what they did!!!" "oh a burnout on a stage in front of all the dealers and press..!!! brilliant!!!""

No question that bike was heavily VMax inspired, however it is still sexy as hell.

I am glad to see some competition for the VMax. Not that the Gen1 or Gen2 isn't an awesome machine, but their designs have remained completely static for their entire production run.
Why? Because nobody stepped up to the plate to give the Max any competition.

With Duc breaking into the muscle bike market, hopefully it will spur Yamaha to up their game and give it's VMax riders updates a little faster than once every 22 years.
