Merry Christmas everyone,

Looking to source (buy or borrow) the special tool (YM-01229) to remove final drive nut. Anyone have any leads on where I can purchase this, cant seem to find anything online. Thanks!!!

I also did this to get my final drive powder coated. I made my own tool to remove the bearing retainer using a piece of mild steel 6 mm thick and cutting it to clear the shoulder of the final drive casting, and the central thread as you can see here in the picture. It engages with just two of the four slots in the retainer which works just fine. The tool can then be turned clockwise (left hand thread) using a pair of adjustable wrenches. The nut which goes on the thread shown in picture 1 can be removed by using some soft metal to lock the two gears as shown in picture 2.

There are many ways of doing it. I ground down a socket leaving 4 notches that locted into the retainer. Just be creative and you will find a way that works for you.
