Hi folks:

When I purchased my '98 Max, the seller had removed the center stand, but gave me the parts for it. But, for the life of me, I cannot find it in the service manual, or, of course, directions how to put it back on.

The part specifically that's bugging me is called the "main stand link." I see two possible mounting positions for it on the frame...a bolt facing the front of the bike and a bolt facing the back of the bike. So, on which of these bolts does the main stand link bolt, and does the angle of the main stand link face forward or backward?

Second: Whats the best way to mount the spring...I know I've gotta stretch it, so what's the best tool to do so?

Thanks very much!

Thanks for the quick reply, Frosty72.
I took off the old exhaust (a UFO 4-1 system I hated) and have a new Holeshot 4-2 system I haven?t installed yet. The tabs are still on the bike frame. The Holeshot system DOES allow the centerstand.
The part that I don?t know where/at what angle to install is Yamaha part # 1FK-27115-00-00, which is called the ?main stand link.? Once I do know this, I?m in good shape!
Thanks again!

good question. i'll go take a pic of mine at lunchtime..

do you have the CS stop kit from holeshot? you'll need it supposedly.

I put pennies in between each coil of the spring to keep it stretched out when replacing..however why not just keep the stand off? Just put it back on when you do repairs..i don't even use the spring now just the 2 bolts to hold the stand and take it off when done.

I only use mine for maintainance, but when i do put it on it goes on easy.

I don't know what the main stand link is but when mine goes on I just slide it in between the tabs and put the bolts in. The bolts have to go in from the inside, and the nuts go on the outsides. I don't know if I even still have the spring.

Hey Gamorg02:

If you could take a picture of it, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
