So a while back my wife went to a doctor to have a mole looked at and he removed it and tossed it in the trash. Wait all things like this are to be sent out and tested. well it came back and it was removed again and sent out to be tested. Well yes it tested possative for melanoma. She has been clear for a while now thanks to some great people. But that being said I have also noticed that we have to watch out for ourselves more than ever these days. Not just in the medical field. I went for a mri The other day and i have been back and forth to the doctors a few times in the last few weeks and i have been with the same family medical center for about 28 years now. The mri people called me to set the mri up and asked me some question one of the question was are you claustrophobic and i said no. Well apparently i was wrong because when they tried to stuff my 6' 2" 255 lbs ass in a long narrow space i told them to get my ass out now. This space was way to small for me. My shoulders were pushed in and i started to slide as i was moved in. So we tried the other one that was bigger. I dont see how it was when the same thing happen. The lady said put your hands above your head and than lets try feet first. I dont know why you dont fit i have put 350 lbs people in here. I said what 8' tall 350 people. so she says well you will have to call our other location that has a bigger opening. Now that pissed me off more than anything. You know im 6' 2" at 255 lbs and you send me to the smallest one. what a waist of my time and a waist of everyone time. I have to make my appointments on monday mornings because i drive truck and i might not make it back in time. So i have to wait 4 to 8 weeks to get in. and now i have to set up another mri thats 8 to 16 weeks later. This is only a few things that have happen in the past 28 years that has pissed me off for know reason what so ever other than people not caring enough to do a job right. I am so pissed about people not doing their job. If i dont do my job safe and correctly everyday every mile people get hurt or die. I have alot on my plate every second of every mile i pull two trailers through rush hour traffic 5 days a week. Thats 124440 miles a year in the truck and i put 28000 mile a year on my personal car. I have been a truck driver for over 19 years now and i havent even been in one accident. Am i that good or do i just care that much. I think its alot of both. I feel that caring is a thing of the past for alot of people and im wondering if its a thing of the past for most people. I mean its so bad that some people will stand there and tell you that they care and they have all kinds of things marked against them and they beleave what they are saying. Im not sure what to think anymore. Maybe Toddler is right maybe i am an old man. But at least i have a track record that says i care.

Unfortunately a LOT of people dont care. They dont care about their job, the quality of the job that they do, or even the patients associated with that job.

I have been a Paramedic for over 18 years...and started in EMS 21 years ago, and unfortunately its probably only gonna get worse.

When an entitlement attitude enters, work ethic leaves. Its only going to get worse, the more socialist we get. Incentive to strive is being sucked away by the Gov on an hourly basis.

Unfortunately this isn't only in the medical field, it's all thru society. Greed and the almighty dollar is responsible for much of it....beef up the bottom line, please the stockholders, kick their ass in contract negotiations, award the critical parts contract to the lowest bidder, chop benefits.....on & on.

All this trickles down to us....the consumer. And you know what....this is as good as it's gonna get, 10 - 15 years from now we'll be saying "and we thought things were bad in '13.....oiy!"

Ever see this movie?
Idiocracy

Some times I think that that's whats really going to happen. My theory on getting older is that the older you get the more amount of crap you have put up with over your life time and you can only take so much crap. So then you become old and bitter. :bang head:

Im not sure I agree dannymax. I do agree it has a little to do with it. But im thinking advanced technology has played a big roll in why society has lost the need to care. That and the fact that society is so big we dont have to care because there will be another in line. But why do some of us hold a track record that shows we do care. What is it that drives some to care no matter what.

So bottom line....why do some people inherently strive to do a good job, and some people are ok with mediocrity?

I think it comes down to personal pride, and personal responsibility.

There are lots of factors Mike, money is only one of them, there are several....the court system, fracturing of the family unit, it's almost endless. :confused2:

I think it comes down to personal pride, and personal responsibility.

That's exactly the reason....pride, personal & national. Some of us have it, some of us don't.

I have so many medical problems that I was dropped from a government subsidized program years ago. In 21 years since the first of 3 totaled vehicles. None my fault. My co pays have reached over $400,000. Very little of that has come back from any insurance coverage. Maybe 20%.

Several years ago I was diagnosed as having all the symptoms of Lupus. Dr. said it was false, that I don't have lupus, just the symptoms. Last year I was told that I showed the symptoms of Agent Orange Poisoning, except Cancer. How in the Hell is that possible.

Had Cataract surgery 4 months ago, I'm still struggling with eye strain and pain but I can see distant Galaxies and almost see rocks on the moon. I paid for everything up front and have been through 5 procedures on my eyes. Next is Lasik on my right eye to bring the 2 eyes focus point together. And, I have very good reputable Dr's. God will be the only help we have while ObamaCare continues to malfunction and what if we end up with the predicted Single Payer, Medicaid for all.:bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head:

V.A. Coverage?:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

^ That sucks Dave. I think our men and women who served should have healthcare for life. They deserve it. Not like our P.O.S. politicians who get it for serving a 4 year term in office.

yes personal pride and responsiblity has alot to do with it but why do some have it and in my opinion most dont. Also in my opinion I feel if i have a track record of caring enough im better off and life is easier. Dont get me wrong i have made alot of mistake in my life but i feel how you handle the mistake is how the long term out come will be. In the past i have taught rookie drivers how to drive a semi and when they miss a gear i would tell them its not that you missed a gear its how you recover from missing the gear. We all miss gears and i still miss them everyday but a driver that cares will find the right gear to keep rolling without hurting the truck. To tell you the truth not many drivers are great at shifting. In my second year i thought i was good but it took me 5 years to be great at it. The same for backing the truck up. When i took my first job as a truck driver i had never taken a truck down the road i did have some heavy equitment training but i had alot to lern with a big truck and all that traffic and weather. I got 2 days training and i looked at the guy and said i would be better off if you just cut me lose. I said i will see to it that i dont hurt the truck or any people. I wont sink i will swim. He looked at me and said that what i wanted to here and cut me lose. I kept my word. mind you i dident know how to back into tight places or shift the truck. for about a week i was in way over my head but i kept at it. and because i cared enough to be great at what i do i made it. I have had bosses that wernt happy with me when i shut the truck down because it should not be on the road and i have lost alot of money because i dident run but i have a great track record because i cared. evan when i plan a ride it goes good. But what makes me and others like me care so much. There are alot of people that i know that care and i try to surround myself with people like this but i feel that alot more people that i meet dont care. what is it that click inside you to care most of the time.

God is a thing that i dont like to talk about. Well the bible god. If he is all that than why do we have obamacare. dont get me wrong i do beleave in a higher power. but to each his/her own.

Mike, if you have a condition which needs to be resolved or even a diagnosis which is dependent on the MRI, and you need a larger chamber for your VMax physique, I suggest contacting your primary care MD again and get him/her to try and intervene on your behalf to get an earlier appt.

In this day of litigation I don't think most trucking firms would be willing to cut you loose as you had happen. When the accidents occur, the first two things the plaintiff's attorneys do is to get the training/driving records and the vehicle maintenance records. They are looking for motor vehicle operator substandard performance, lack of sufficient training, improper classification/use, vehicle defects, lack of required, scheduled maintenance, possibly by someone not-qualified to perform it; ongoing problems, manufacturer defects, in-short, anything they can dig further into to show a jury that these things contributed to the occurrence.

When I learned to operate a fire truck as a pump operator/driver-engineer in 1975, I learned on a Seagrave open-cab pumper w/a straight-eight cyl engine and a non-synchro 'crash' gearbox. The engine they used was actually a Pierce-Arrow-designed and (previously) manufactured gas powerplant which Seagrave bought the rights-to. The straight gearbox 'graunched' on every shift, but it was operating correctly, that was just the noise it made. If you didn't synchronize the engine and road speed correctly, you had to come to a stop and start over again from the bottom of the gearbox. No two-speed rear axle, just a four speed crashbox which required mastery to get off probation. I used to double-clutch it up and down, and I did OK, though my primary job classification was firefighter/EMT and then firefighter/paramedic. I got off probation, and occasionally drove the fire engines, enough to keep my skills up, and I am glad to say I never had to complete an accident report because I hit someone, while I was driving. You have an enviable record as an operator, and I hope it continues.

There are people in society who will try every scheme they can to get more than they should. I think prisons and jails are breeding-grounds for this. When I was working as a fire inspector and we did arson investigations, we could track the 'kitchen fires' in an area because the homeowner would get a brand-new remodeled kitchen, and the word would 'get-out' how-easy it was. Put a pan of cooking oil on high and leave the house during the day, and return to fire suppression units cleaning-up their response. This is assuming you have a house/condo w/paid-up insurance. In Section 8 housing, they do it to get another apartment.

We kept a map in the fire prevention bureau and could track the progression of kitchen fires in a neighborhood as word was spread about the scam. Unless someone admits to doing it intentionally, it's almost impossible to prove it was done deliberately.

Many people believe they are going to get something they 'deserve' because they don't want to work for it. An unfortunate response to not wanting to work, that's why there are so-many people filing for disability.

I hope you get your MRI ASAP and can find-out what's going-on. Merry Christmas, and I hope there's snow in MI for it.

Its only going to get worse, the more socialist we get. Incentive to strive is being sucked away by the Gov on an hourly basis.
Has nothing to do with socialism. Working in Saint Johns hospital for 6 years. Hospital was in the process of remodeling for 5 years, things became worse and worse, finally year ago hospital was on an edge of closing. Headquaters from another state finally step in. They escorted CEO out of the office, dismissed all panel members (those guys were simply stealing money in millions). CEO was smiling when leaving (probably already has huge estate in Phillipines). And hospital is for SALE now. Crooks and corruption everywhere capitalism or socialism - doesn't matter. BTW Saint John's is "nonprofit" hospital, but our managers always crying that we do not make any money!

I think you got me wrong fire-medic im ok and this is not my first mri im just taking care of things ahead of time so I dont have it bad later in life. As I said they have a bigger mri at the hospital. My bitch is they should have sent m to the bigger one first and shouldent have even tried the small over and over. This is a clear example of a group off people that just dont care.

I think it's crazy to put all medical personnel in the same category. If that was the case if I saw a horrible truck driver that I would put them in the same category as you. Even though you have a great record. Sounds like you have a stupid primary care or who ever sent you for you MRI. they should have saw your size and told the person that set up,your MRI. I'm 6'0 240#'s and have been to several MRI's. They have sent me to the open one. A lot more room. But to say the whole medical profession is lazy and not caring is obvious a stupid remark.

I have lost most of my trust not all. But latly the good as out wayed the bad. I never said all was bad. And yes most drivers dont care. Thats my point. I think if you read again you will see I dident make everyone a target. Im just pointing out that as a hole things are not great .

We'll I agree but you can look at any profession and say the same thing. I'm in law enforcement and there are plenty of bad apples. Even if you go to Walmart or any big stores. You're get some people that take pride in there job and others could give a **** less. So I guess I misunderstood you.
I hope you feel better and get the care you need.
Merry Christmas my friend !!!!!

My point is just that why do some care and it seams like most dont. Im thinking it has a lot to do with our gene or dna and advanced technology that we deal with everyday.
