Weather channel Vortex team finally caught a tornado in Wyoming. WOW! They captured the whole life span of the thing....simply beautiful. I've lived through a few of these things, and am completely fascinated by them.

we have had several up here in maine so far this year,,

they are very rare up here and usually only ef0 or ef1

but still pretty scary:worthy:

I've been in the basement three times already this year. If you follow tornados, you're probably familiar with the Andover, KS tornado in April of 91. That one didn't get my families house, but did some damage on our land. It picked up a canoe off a pond and hurled it through the side of one of our barns several hundred yards away. Quite a think to see...canoe sticking out of a barn. That one was an F5...before the "enhanced" scale came to be.

I did some chasing in my youth, and had lots of really close calls. That's something I wouldn't mind getting back into. Good times.....

the may 3rd 1999 tornado that was responsible for the adjustment in the f scale ( had winds that were higher than the then f5 limit) came within 1/2 mile from my house. was pretty cool and scary at the same time considering the base of it was a mile wide...

weve had a few fraidy hole days this year already although its been pretty mild overall.

for those who are fascinated with tornadoes like i am..

That storm that hit WY last night was huge! Luckily it was still quite a ways north of Cheyenne. The light show was quite amazing.
