Jet block rubber caps

Due to a very unstable idle, for which I've tried both the Peashoter and the Shotgun method, I'm now ultrasonic cleaning my carburetors - and therefore I 've dismantled them completely.
When taking off the rubber caps covering the jet pilot and the main bleed pipe in the jetblock, I discovered that they fit quite loosely; difference in diameter of the holes in the main block and the rubber caps are approx 0,2 mm. Is it a problem that they don't have a tight fit?

I've tried to find a suitable carburetor repair kit, that contains all necessary gasket/rubber parts - which seems almost impossible. Do any of you experienced guys know where/how to buy such a kit?

Rubber caps,I would order a set of all four, times 2, for the different sizes. In other words, yes, replace them.

The K&L kit pictured here is a good start, but the coasting enrichener valve isn't part of it. I suspect the German VMax vendors may carry them. They are on ebay here in the USA. Beware as there are counterfeit pieces on ebay . CaptainKyle recommends this vendor (below), and I have used them also.



Type in Peak Moto Online and search for that K & L kit on ebay.

Search back in the carb threads for info on those plugs.
I remember posting about this issue but the specifics escape
me now.
May even have gotten them from Sean.
I feel like there are so many variables with our carbs, its hard
to say the plugs alone are the cause, but knowing they are lose,
replacing them, gets them off the list of possibilities.
Keep plugin awayLOL, fricken carbs can drive you crazy!

I ordered a 4 carb kit on eBay and nothing fit. The only thing that was ok was the included hardware.
I hear this site is pretty good

CaptainKyle: Yes I can see that they're a bit cheaper than the ones I ordered, but... The company I ordered from is located in Holland, and since I'm from Denmark (both countries within the EU) I'll not have any annoying issues regarding duties, taxes or other extra costs.

Without actually counting the # of times in say the last 4 years, people have posted about problems with their bikes' operation, I expect that the #1 reason people have issues, is the carburetors. Lack of use, coupled with ethanol gas, and a rusty gas tank probably account for most issues. It could be one, some or all those.

I was actually looking on ebay for carb bits I'm glad you noticed nothing fit , I'm after rubber gaskets etc for inlet manifold and oil vaccum pan if you know any good sites

I use Ron Ayres Yamaha in NC for most of my parts. Another place you can try is our member Sean Morley [email protected] who will also be able to help you with questions about your motorcycle.

The 'all 4 carbs-in-one' kits off ebay are not good uses of your funds. Either use your local dealer, or one of the people on here who recommend websites, or Sean Morley. A member specialist in VMax carburetor parts and rebuilding is dannymax [email protected] who is another member who offers parts and carburetor services. I have also had good results with him, as have many other forum members; contact him via email.

CaptainKyle is another person who offers VMax specific services. He does painting also. [email protected]
Search for his name and 'painting' in the upper right-hand of the forum page.

First run after cleaning (nothing has yet been adjusted nor syncronized):

The carburettors have been completely taken apart, ultrasonic cleaned and reassembled. New gaskets, o-rings, rubber caps, float needle valves. Floats adjusted. Pilot jets mounted the correct places(!) Yes, on two carburettors they were mixed up!... Piston valve jet needle mounted correct (the small washers were positioned incorrect on to carburettors, so that the needle heights were inaccurate).

Now I'm about to calibrate the carburettors and fine adjust the mixture screws, and I'm about to piss my pants in pure exitement about how it will feel to ride her again...
