Diane, does K&P have the pre spin on type for the early VMax's, '85 - '9? (not sure when Yamaha went to spin on)
I picked the adaptor plate from Tom @COO and a post '95 frame cross brace (curved style) from Ebay/ Pinwall for $35 w/ shipping. I don't have a good picture of it mounted since I purchased the black powdercated style and it doesn't show up well in the pictures I do have.

Yeah, aware of them BB, have one on my 700X as a matter of fact, but prefer to keep the '86 in it's original config.

OK,

I said Happy Easter because it was my code for I won't be answering any questions immediately, Dang I need a time out. :worthy:

I hope this answers some of your K&P questions:

1) Micron rating:
Here is K&P's You Tube Channel. Check out the Filtration and Flow videos.
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=k&p+engineering Check them all out. The micron rating is just a number, it is how they get to it that makes a difference.

Again check here for information on microns - http://usaoilfilters.com/faq/ note it is 35 microns.

2) Regarding the oil filter plate, the site says to use an OEM Yamaha filter (spin-on). Do you happen to know which Yamaha oil filter they mean? If you could get me the part number, I should be able to cross reference it with K&P.

3) Regarding a K&P spin-on oil filter for pre-96 V-Max, K&P doesn't make a spin-on for years prior to 1996.

4) Cleaning process: please look at http://usaoilfilters.com/cleaning/. Personally, I change my oil in any of my vehicles at 3,000 miles. There is no recommended interval suggested.

Diane
