I have a 95 with the Kerker 4 to 1 exhaust. I love the sound, but I only have one gripe; the slip on silencer. I think it looks big and clunky. Is there any different slip-on's available; shorter, smaller? Is the Kerker designed to have a certain length of silencer for performance, or is it all in the header design? My favorite is the UFO 4 -1 Dragstar, but I cannot justify $1,000 just for cosmetics.

Main reason for wanting to change the silencer is for cosmetics. The look of the silencer does not go well with the direction I want to take with the bike.

Thanks,

What direction ? Stainless , Ceramic coated , Red , Black , Carbon Fiber , Chrome , ?

Morley can set you up with a shortened can like the custom shortened carbon fiber Kerker can that came from him. You Could probably get a Dragstar looking can.

Currently my bike is stock look, that is freshly painted red by previous owner. I want to take the bike into an all black look, cafe style. Kind of like the multi-max by Bushmaster. Eliminate rear seat, tighten up rear end, and have a few choice chrome parts to make it pop. This winter I want to tear it down, add chain conversion, and make it a 1500. Of course add brake upgrade, fork, and rear shocks. Probably very choice shiny wheels. I hate it when the can covers up the beauty of the rear wheel.

So the exhaust could be short carbon fiber can. I would be interested in a Dragstar type open, but would that affect performance of exhaust? Would a shortened can effect the power-band? So is it ok just to shorten the can?

I found a picture of the look that is my favorite, but I could never afford the single side, and the exhaust.

My main goal is to smooth out the look, and not cover up rear wheel, I want the eye to focus on rear wheel instead of exhaust. I know it sounds anal, but I am picky about some things. (I blame it on my German heritage!)

That looks awesome, but I would change the tip to a standard with a little tip down angle. What would be the dimensions on that slip on? Who is the maker? Cost?

Would shortening the stock stainless can affect performance? There is alot I wanna do to the bike, but budget is a concern and I want to be resourceful with the parts I already have too.

Those were made by Mario , previously made by HMF . They run about $ 250.00 each , but are very well made and look great.

I have a cut down old style Kerker with turn down on my '98 .

Two Brothers Racing made some with the turn down in Titanium ; Black & C.F. ; an odd color of Brownish / Greenish C.F. for the Blackbird , but has discontnued them. I picked up a black set used about 2 weeks ago for my Bird. ( Definately rare and not cheap )

That Kerker in the first pick is beautiful. That is the look I want, Black and Bad! :punk:

Tell me the effects of shortening, just louder? My main concern is how shortening affecting performance too. I notice the angle is a bit different with that system. It seems to point up more, and mine just goes more horizontal.

I bought it used in chrome from a member , drop shipped it to Sean for Jet Hot Black Coating and while waiting , the can had a blemish that he eliminated by shortening the can. Sounds great & loud. If I knew how to post a sound clip I would post it for you.

When the time comes this winter or run across a member that is selling I know what to shop for.

Thanks for the input. At some point I am going to probably bug you about your front end setup. If I am correct, is it an R! setup? I know it proly belongs on another thread too.

I got bored and tried my own handy work in the garage. It turned out pretty good.
