match paint 1988 Red V Max

Has anyone matched the red paint on the 1988 V Max?
Looks like original paint, its a very fine metallic red with clearcoat.

I tried Colorite, they have no Yamaha listings for 1988.



I copied this info from another thread, according to this the 1988 should have black scoops. Mine has chrome, so have I got the wrong scoops or is the info flawed?


1985 - 2 colors to pick from - Burgundy or a kind of Purple
1986 - Maroon
1987 - ask the Canada guys
1988/1989 - Red with Black Scoops
1990 - "Shiny Black" which is actuall black with blue metal flake in it (very beautiful color)
1991 - Metallic Black (black with silver flake)
1992 - Metallic Red (darker red - probably the nicest looking color scheme)

None of the Vmax's had chrome scoops from the factory. looks like the previous owner of yours had them chromed or bought a chrome set.

No problem, I'm still looking for a list of what color name went with what year. I think it would be a great list to have to match up.
