My simple Tranny repair is turning into a full blown Mod Monkey freak out. I can't stop myself!

With Seans knowledge, advice and coordination and me bolting stuff together my motor is going to 1360,............ doing stroker crank, rods, and 13:1 over bore pistons and biggers cams, valve springs and cam chains.......Going to be a completely new motor when it goes back together except for the heads, although I'll probably lap the valve seats at least??????

A few days ago my wife mentioned that I needed to go ahead and spend the money to get the engine back together, she failed to be more specific : )

Turns out she just meant getting the tranny fixed,:confused2: ........

When I took her out to dinner last night and dropped the bomb, trying to "casually" mention what's been spent so far, she sorta freaked ,,,,:hammer bash:,,,
,,,,:hammer bash:,,,
,,,,:hammer bash:,,,
,,,,:hammer bash:,,,

Then I mentioned what has gone into her new bathroom and it was all better.......:th_529:.......:th_529:

.......:th_529:

It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission, that's for sure......

Sean has been FANTASTIC to deal with by the way....

thanks guys!

Well, my 1360 turned into a 1540 somehow, not sure how that happened, something to do with a Monkey I think....:biglaugh:

We decided to go ahead and do the sleeves too...Might as well, already have taken it this far, why not:ummm:

I can't freaking wait, and yes, it will require a dyno sheet, I'm hoping for high 160's, maybe even 170's although with just 03 cams using the stock heads and Mikuni carbs don't know if it'll go that far...we'll see........maybe I should go ahead and do the heads too huh:confused2:

Keep you updated, although it's probably going to be Winter before it all comes together, lead time on some of the items is pretty long, but at least it's all paid for and in motion now..........

Sean has been fantastic thu all of this too:punk:

Rusty, you should still buy Lottery Tickets... Good Karma, you know...:biglaugh:

Oh, I can see a Mod Monkey Award in Your Future Too...

I hope you are taking plenty of pics with this build, it would be cool to see it go back together!!

There's some crazy monkey in there !!!! lol
What kind of cost are you talking about so far ? just naive question to get an idea :p

Way more than the bike is worth and way more than it will ever be worth.......
.......I can never sell it after this, my ass would hurt too bad....better to keep it, not that I'll ever want to sell it.........:biglaugh:

Nothing exact but generally about the cost of a PCW tourmaster plus the added cost of the stroker crank, so around $6500 so far,...................but that's including a 2nd gear repair job, full undercutting of all gears in the tranny and a Venture 5th gear conversion as well....So all in all a pretty good deal....

Plus however much I end up spending on the heads, gonna be about $1k if I just port and do a valve job and new seals with stock valves on my heads.........I think I found a set of WELL ported big valve heads like PCW uses on thier higher HP long rod motors ready to go but haven't decided if I can stand to spend that much more.....In any case by the time it's done I'm probably gonna be in the hole about $7500-$8500.

Sean Morley has been really good to me through all of this especially with me changing my mind continously along the way...

But it's going to have much better components in it than a PCW tourmaster.....Pretty much an Equivalent of one of thier Long Rod engines without the chain drive or fancy head work..Unless I do decide to buy those heads I found..........Something I'm still thinking about.....:ummm:

Thanks again to Sean for taking on the "Smart" end of this build and the logistics of pulling it all together and humoring me by letting me bolt it together........:punk:

Sounds like you are going to have a strong motor. I hope it runs the way you want .

B.T. W. ,

Has anybody put a Gen 2 motor in a Gen 1 frame yet ? What is the going price for a Gen 2 motor / tranny ?

Got word yesterday my upper case is being shipped after the resleeving job.

Yippeee!!

1539 cc's here we come:punk:

Thanks for all your patience through this build Sean, very thankful for your help in putting together this beastly stroker motor package and doing all the leg work and thinking for me.

Hi i see you are where i was last year i had PCW turn my 12000 mile stock mtr into a 1500 tourmaster and i can tell you this from my own experience. on the dyno i tried the stock carbs with Seans kit ,if you want to bring that monster to life then you are going to have to goto flatside carbs i have 39mmm you will prob need 41mm and a custom exhaust 4 into 2 into 1and larger diameter pipes, i went with a Marks jet hot coated my motor pulled a 166.7 hp and 111 fpt on the dyno mine is still shaft drive to .I also had to goto a 3" stretch swingarm. Marcus Hickman has a PCW 1570 long rod and won the shoot out at daytona with 203hp chain drive pcw 4 into 2 into 1. Wait till you feel the torque the motor will make good luck with your build hope you can use some of the info i gave you . JIM Mod Monkey 4 Life

Look out boys, He's got a license to fly. Best of luck once you get it Rusty.
That crank sounds very interesting.

The crank was Seans idea, lots more stroke and less bore than the typical tourmaster. Should make plenty torque I hope.
