Not a matter of being skilled or not but more to have respect for the bike you own or not.
When I rode the v-max before buying it it didn't come in my mind to drive like crazy.

Woops. Guy must feel like a complete arse - totaled the bike having just paid for it..

And to ride a bike for the first time without decent gear, what an idiot! Only lucky he wasn't more hurt. And now he's got a nice project to work on too. Some people..

Still, must feel awful to see your bike you enjoyed and looked after in that state, even if it's paid for. I feel for ya.

I have allowed potential buyers to ride bikes I have had for sale, not any more. Glad to hear he will heal. Did he have an MC license?

Terrible situation! Hope the guy is OK. It would be my worst fear when selling a bike! Hopefully he will just lick his wounds and go away, but you never know when someone will try a lawsuit against you. People nowadays are SOOOO sue happy.....

I rode my Vmax before I paid for it. I hammered it in 2nd gear, hard too, on a lonely street. I told the owner I was going to see what it would do. The brakes weren't very good. The cash was in my pocket. I went home with a low milage bike and a few issues I knew were minor . I'd never riden a Vmax before that. But, selling? You did the right thing getting cash first. Aything can happen that can put anyone on the ground regardless of skill. Lesson learned here. Cash in hand or no test rides. It's different when your the seller. You can get burnt in so many ways.

Daggum', that sucks! Did you get a still photo of the bike? Like to see what's left of it!!!!! I guess this would be the "before" photos!

Yep those are the before pictures. The after is in the initial post on this thread. I took a couple more but my hand was shaking so bad they blurred. I spoke to the guy and he will be alright only battered and bruised but nothing permanent. He is supposed to get with me to pick up the parts that I had got from Sean and the Corbin that I got from Fire-Medic (its not red and black anymore) I already told him about the ease of getting parts and that he could get it back on the road with no problem. The crash bars that I had Cap-Kyle install really saved the motor. Hell when I picked up the bike and after looking it over the thing fired right back up!

A113ycat,
maybe you should give your "Purple Heart" award to the buyer of your bike ! Just saying ..... :rofl_200:

Ya know I thought about telling him to join the site and still may. What a way to join a site though huh? "Welcome to the site....Here is your Purple Heart.."

It's always the people who "can handle big bikes" and have "been riding for years", the dolts that think since they can floor it in a straight line and pop wheelies they are expert riders. Whoops, hit a crack in the pavement and couldn't handle it.

At least he paid you for it, so not your problem anymore.

Probably started wishing he had taken your jacket and boots instead of declaring it "too hot" for gear.

At the time of the crash, whose name was the bike registered in? If you were the legal owner of the machine, having the cash in hand may not protect you from a lawsuit. Fortunately he didn't hurt anyone but himself - if anyone else was involved or injured, you'd possibly be liable for damages if you were the owner of the bike.

Wow, what nerve! Tim, quite a story. I insist that any person buying a vehicle from me go to my friend's title agency and transfer it then & there, or "no-sale!" I learned the hard way, not as-bad as your example, but I got billed for a storage & tow from Miami Beach after a truck I sold someone, which was never put in his name, was abandoned years later. I agreed to sign-over the title to settle the suit. I got my $ out of the truck, I owned it for 17 years & went to Montreal in it twice from FL. Scumbags deserve retribution and punishment!

"The Four Horsemen" would know what to do! They are going to be inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame at a Wrestlemania show here in Dolphins Stadium soon. The top card is John Cena and Dwayne Johnson-"The Rock!" Dwayne went to college with my daughter and son at "The U."

When I was teaching high school science here in FL, after my fire-rescue career, one of my students asked me, "Mr. B, you look like Arn Anderson!" I had heard of the "Four Horsemen" in pro wrestling but didn't really follow it as I was a 'for-real' wrestler in high school and college, and afterwards in open tournaments. The last time I competed was 3 years ago and as I am 60+, I may have reached my limit. But, I had to go look-up pics of Arn and compare them to me, there is something of a resemblance, but he's taller & heavier. I can see where he thought we looked alike though.

Man, that sucks for all involved. Glad you got your money. Hopefully the new owner will heal fast and well and that'll be the end of it.
