Man, that sucks for all involved. Glad you got your money. Hopefully the new owner will heal fast and well and that'll be the end of it.

I hope so too. I told him that I would be more than happy to help him track down the parts he needs....Its kinda what I do for a living anyway. I am also giving him the additional parts that I have here at the shop that I got from Sean as well as many other parts that I had stock piled for the bike. I am a believer in Karma and really will do everything I can to help the guy out.

i THATS NICE OF YOU TO HELP HIM OUT ! ... . I BET SOME OF THAT IS BECAUSE THE LOYALTY YOU HAVE TOWARD THE BIKE ! ... I NO HOW ATTACHED I GET TO SOME OF THE THINGS I'VE OWNED AND WOULDN'T WANT TO SEE THEM WRECKED ! . :punk:

Yeah that is most likely a big part of it. I was very attached to that bike.

I got a call from him last night and he gave me the medical update on his injuries. He said they were all mostly superficial. Other than a cracked elbow extremely sprung ankle (Not broke) and they removed a rock from his forearm roughly the size of an Almond!! He wants to come down to revisit the scene and pick up the parts as soon as he can drive again. I hope he remembers to bring me back my loading ramp when he does.....

That almond may be the size of his common-sense area of his brain!

DUDE. I saw this thread early Saturday morning before heading out to CaptainKyle's, but didn't have time to respond as I was behind schedule. We talked about this over the ribs and corn we ate during "tech day". I hate seeing Maxes going down, well, any bike for that matter. Hope the guy is OK. Good thing for you he had cash in hand. What is he going to do with scraps?

Well he plans on fixing the bike a riding it. I estimate the total cosmetic damage at about 5-700 then the other parts that were destroyed will likely bring it up to about a grand plus the hours of labor then paint he will probably get it back on the road looking good as new for about 2500 total +- but 5500 is a lot to pay for a bike that was initially good as new for 3K

In his words "**** happens....live and learn"

I feel bad for this fellow and his mishap, but it sounds like he's a decent stand up guy, kudos to him for planning on repairing the Max and climbing back in the saddle!.........maybe we'll see him here soon......................Tom.

Hope the guy heals up well. Bikes can be fixed to new condition, bodies cant.

I NEVER let anyone test ride any bike I have for sale without cash in hand beforehand. I'll demonstrate anything they want to see, I'll even take them for a ride on the back. You never know if they can ride or not.

I question why there are skid marks? Maybe he locked up the front just to check braking and dumped it. Probably thought it would stop like a ZX14. Not so much on a Max. I see no reason for the skid marks though....:ummm:

Ouch - for both of you. Though he did the right thing and paid you, what an emotional (stressful) experience, not to mention the pain of seeing a nice bike get dumped. An adrenaline rush for both you guys. His injuries sound painful too.
So pride or ignorance as the explanation for not wearing proper gear? I wonder the answer that that question every time I hear of or see a painful bike injury. Mostly preventable with the technology (and affordability) in gear we have available these days.. :bang head:

As they say, "It's better to sweat than bleed." But most people seem to want to learn from direct painful experience.

And to Coprunner.. you missed a few spots! Why no spikes on the boots or gloves? :)

Nice. Adding it to my collection.
