Alright. Time for an update!!!
So I have been working on the bike on and off. A lot of help from Morely. After the last time I cleaned the carbs and adjusted the float levels it was still giving me problems. I emailed morely and he mailed me a box of electrical parts, one being the TCI (or what ever the black box is called) I replaced that and it did seem to show an improvment so I left it there for when it went to my local Yamaha shop. I gotta say the local shop is pretty damn good all around. They came and picked my bike up, no extra charge, real friendly about it. After they do their thing they tell me they found that the TCI is bad and they synced and adjusted the carbs, so all I need to do is get a new unit and I will be good to go.
At this point I email morely again let him know that I needed another box because the one he sent seems to be a dud, he says it is possible so he sends another one. I plug it in, crank it up. Marks exhaust comes to life and sounds amazing. I take it for a test ride around the block, no problem, throtal is responsive, I pull back into my garage with a big ass grin. It was dark at this point so I wait till the next day. I plug all the electronics back in, my tach was unplugged.
Next morning. Get all dressed up to ride.
The problem is back. At this point I was about to grab my gun and shoot the damn bike. I dont mind problems, as long as I know what is broken. I called the yamaha shop again and asked them what was up because I have a new unit I know that works. The service guy askes me what exactly I did after I plugged it in. I told him, and he said the tach could be blowing the unit.
Its the only damn thing that makes sense. Pissed, but at least I have an answer. Granted I basicly bought two used units from morely lol and will need to buy another when he gets some more.
That and I need to find about what the hell is up with my tach.
