Given the dimensions of the new wheel that wouldn't work. It was also mean sacrificing a stock wheel which could possibly be sold off. I do understand your thinking though and the process would work on a wheel blank.
Yup I see your point. The wheel you have has a pretty small hub. Are you planing on pressing in a core for the bearing? I had a friend build me some modded gsxr wheels and it was better to fully machine a hub rather the using a stock wheel as the welding would a be a little trickier.

Got material to machine the rear hub and have done a rough design as to how it goes together :Glasses:

Was going to powdercoat the frame but seeing as I need to spray some plastic bits anyway I decided to just spray it myself instead.

Lovely color.

Rear hub is sorted and mocked it up, got to paint the pumpkin and make a spacer or two but it fits right where I want it.
Swing arm is extended by 80mm

I like the cobalt frame color. What brand and type of paint did you use?

People who are of a certain age, and who recall the Can Am racing series of the late 1960's-1970's will see that and remember the Mark Donohue Sunoco McLarens (cobalt/yellow). He also used it in the Trans Am series for his Camaros. The John Wyer Gulf (motor oil) livery (paint job) used a powder-blue in-place of the cobalt, and orange as the other dominant color on Ford GT's in international sports car racing. Both were very striking in appearance. SOme discussion of the John Wyer Gulf paint has occurred on here before.

Hot Rod in the May 2016 issue had a great breakdown of the Ford and GM efforts in Can-Am. A great read if you want to read about aluminum engine V8 Detroit mid-engine sports racing cars.

Autothane which is from PPG I think. Paint is a 2k mix

Got the front hubs machined this morning, I have to drill them but it's all going to plan so far

Well this has been awhile. So busy at work etc but finally got things back on track.
The rear wheel is now sorted and so is the front, so I should start assembling stuff very soon.

The weight of the rear wheel is exactly the same weight as stock, I haven't checked the front.

He's put a lot of effort into it for sure! We've got 2 chromed versions going out soon. One already sold and the other is available (for the moment). Still working to determine the final pricing which should come in under what the Carr's sold for (though not as light).

Finally going to slam this altogether now.
I did have a health setback for awhile with a thing called reactive arthritis from an infection months ago, gave me numb fingers, sore shoulders , fatigue etc. nothing major serious but just annoying. Should be back to normal in a couple more months.

Got some xvz1300 cases and skimmed 1mm off the deck height, reground profile cams and homemade shims.

Still got some stuff to paint but at least I can get the majority of it assembled

Never heard of reactive arthritis. Hope it clears up for you.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project

I like the cobalt blue color. It reminds me of Marc Donohue, running in the Can Am series (and Trans-Am, and Indy cars!) back in the 1960's/'70's for Sunoco.

Who's the guy in the red windbreaker to the left of Marc? I know, do you?

Decided to put a Harley style front end on it.
None of this of course was possible without my trusty apprentice and inspector.
