As long as it's safe, what type of fasteners are you using? As I recall an engine is about 240 lbs.

I try very hard to not let any gremlins stop me in the mid build phase . Could you have maybe used a floor jack or two to take the weight off & maybe reweld after covering the engine to avoid weld splatter getting into places where cleanliness is a priority . Just a suggestion .
