I had to laugh , well almost . Only because they are putting a sprinkler system right through where i work and its pipes are armed with water but sprinkler heads are dry . Not only is there about a mile and a half of pipe above me now but the fact that its gonna be full of water now thats a **** load of weight not to mention if something goes wrong everything will get drenched .
The funny thing is it wont even contain a fire , let along put one out . :ummm:

We have a sprinkler system through out the rest of our building including the warehouse and the freezer. The system in the freezer is dry (for obvious reasons) and kept that way by air pressure. In order for the system to charge with water 2 conditions have to be met; 1) low air pressure - in theory meaning a sprinkler head has burst from heat AND 2) the protecto-wire needs to melt and close the contact (it's 2 wires separated in an insulating jacket that melts at a certain temp. Needless to say, we found out there hard way that the contractor who initially installed the compressor on this system failed.... One of our forklift operators in the cooler caught a racking cross member and bent it severly, this was also the cross member that the protecto-wire was attached too, thus stretching the wire enough to close the contact (Part 1 of the 2 part system), then the compressor that was maintaining the air in the system could not hold the pressure (part 2 was met), sprinkler system now charges with water.... in our freezer..... and because we had NEVER had a fault with the protecto-wire we did not realize the alarm was triggered because of the water flow. Needless to say it was discovered about 24 hours later, once all the pipes had frozen. To put it into perspective, each individual row in our racks have a sprinkler run, so 7 layers of pipes snaking through an 80,000 sq. foot freezer all had to be removed one at a time and taken outside to thaw, then re-installed.... This carried an $15,000.00+ bill, paid for by the compressor contractor.

I hate sprinkler systems....
