So V4 Bandit has the FIRST Canadian Production bike. For some reason that I cannot quantify, that seems important and of value to me. I'm sure there are guys out there that don't give a crap either way. Perhaps the earliest USA bikes no longer exist.
When I see Twisted's picture I feel conflicted that all is not lost and it could still roar again but sadly I realize that is not in cards for this old girl. She is giving of herself so others can continue though!

She's not Dead yet , and I really hate to take her down any more , she may just get put up and forgotten about for a couple decades. I was going over the list and she's in the top ten known oldest max's. If Kyle and I could come to some terms Id like to see him with it , I know he could / would get it back together.
Anyone from New England heading to FLA anytime in the future?

You know how bad I want it. Specially since the GF stold the other one from me. It would be mint & bone stock when I finished with it.

With all the people going to Daytona in the spring, (or maybe Biketoberfest!) there should be someone to get this down to FL, as a hitchhiker on a trailer.

I don't even care if its a rolling chassis just basically need the frame & motor with the matching numbers. Every thing else would end up being new except the wheels which I have plenty of.

Kyle lets do it! With all the members here we could probably relay it there? So let's work on getting 217 to fla . We'll figure out a price later.

So anyone interested in helping to give this max another shot at life that is planning a trip from the New England area to FLA or interested in Participating in a NE to FLA Vmax relay one state at a time , lets do it!

I would be willing to relay from Maryland to border of VA/Nc either interstate 95 or 81

COOL , I can take it to the other side of CT , Waterbury , Danbury area . for the first leg of the journey.

This is awsome!!...........Maybe we should start a dedicated thread to document it's journey, especially pics!!..............If I wasn't in the wrong direction I would like to partake in this.................Tom.

That number don't jive. Production started at # 0101 so first bike would be #0102. Who has it?!
Might be a typo on this EBay listing.

When in doubt...Gas it !!!

I think we have to seperate the VIN-numbers in 3 different export markets as my "internet research" has given me 3 "different" models" in 1985: 1FK, 1GR and 1JH.

Frame No.: 1FK 000101-010000, Model Name: VMX12, USA
Frame No.: 1GR 000101-003000, Model Name: VMX12, USA (CANADA?)
Frame No.: 1JH 000101-002000, Model Name: VMX12, USA (California?)

It's possible 1FK are the first production, as it has the highest VIN-numbers, and many "un-changed" spareparts from 1985 to 2007 (like the handlebar or the airfilterbox) has 1FK in the front of the part-number.

We've learned that Yamaha begins each model year with the last 4 digits beginning with 0101.
Also, Canadian bikes are numbered independently from those in the USA but also begin with 0101.
