Thanks for posting photos of your "original " 85's.

I've done a few modifications on my 05 & 07 models, but I think if I was lucky enough to own an 85 I'd have to leave it purely" classic" stock.

To each his own of course..........as long as it's a Max...........it's all good!

I just got my first Vmax. It's an 85 cause that was the first year they were made and the number is 3567 with 29k miles. PO told me he was the third owner, and it had sat at a motorcycle dealer for 3 years. He said there were new plug, clutch and tires, and also it may have a stage 1 kit because of the K&N filter and supertrapp 4:1 exhaust on it. No center stand, and may have been repainted. But aside from that it's stock and except for 2nd gear popping into neutral, which the PO told me about, it is very clean.

Mines an 86 with an 85 engine,which means nothing but I remember the manufacturing date on the frame is october 1985,what are the dates on the early 85's? Just out of curiousity.also is tthere a place on the engine case that has a number that might tell me the age of the engine?

I found 0068 in Canada stock with 6,000 miles. I tried to buy it but it not for sale at this time the guy has had it for 17 years.

I think stock ones are worth more or will be in the future but thats just my oppinion.
