At the local sports bar tonight (stopped to get some wings after a ride), and pulled up next to an AC Cobra. White haired gentleman came out with his wife on his arm and got in as I was slobbering over his car. Complimented him on his ride, then stood there as it fired up and drove away.

Didn't get a chance to talk to him much, but would have liked to. Haven't heard a motor sound that good for a long time. I had a 1971 LS5 Vette, and I don't think it would qualify to serve as the starter on this Cobra. :worthy:

Cobra's are cool but likely it was one of the million of kit cars out there. Almost bought one (a kit) 8-10 years ago. Just didn't have the right engine in it and I didn't like the yellow.

I was thinking the same thing Sean, but I'd settle for a kit with a 225 slant-6 in it, just to be able to sit in "Danny's Cobra"!! :rofl_200:

But it's gotta be black, no doubt about that!!!

My buddy has an AC Cobra... Pretty fun to drive. I've even SCCA raced it.

If you can afford one... BUY IT! Side pipes on an open air car are ******* amazing.

I was thinking kit, too, until I heard it start up. Jesus. Hair stood up on my neck. Could have been a faker, I guess...but I'd like to know what's under the hood.

I'd have gotten an iPhone pic, but it was almost dark. I hope I see the car again, there. I'll be there quite a bit during basketball season.

When i was travelling around the U.K years ago we came across an original with a twin turbo 427 . Very nice in blue and white , the price was 1,000,000 pounds . Bloody dear but **** it was nice . :punk:

Yea, they are very cool. The originals were very stripped down race cars and rattle traps but they had a specific purpose.

If I was to get one I wanted a turbo small block chevy in it or a big block with huge blower sticking out the hood. Something to attract attention - lol. Actually, what I really wanted back in the day was a Lambo kit (countach) with Big Block chevy in it. I passed up a crashed real lambo for $5000 back in the late 80's (didn't have the money either). Would have been fun but the original engine just doesn't put out enough punch for me.

A guy I know has one, he loves it to death. I'm happy for him, he's always wanted one as far back as I can remember.

Would make a really good screensaver . :punk:

We talked about it at the car show. He remember's that ad too. We were thinking about doing something similar in the spring time.

It had to be after market turbo's.
Carrol Shelby's personal car, an original twin turbo 427 was sold by Barrett-Jackson in 2007.
It was 1 of 2 produced and the only surviver.
The other sold to Bill Cosby was returned after one ride, using the fright-inducing experience as material on his comedy album, "200 M.P.H..
It was re-sold to a second owner who destroyed it taking his life
Shelby's was now 1 of 1....it sold for $5,5000,000.00........that's 5.5 million dollars!
That makes it the most expensive American car ever sold.
