Parminio, I might very well be being thick about this pin, thats why i put the question out to all you Vmax rocket scientist. Please tell me I'm reading this wrong. If this pin does not having anything to do with the removal of the lower tree tell me what it's for

That pin has nothing to do with the bearing. Do as @Fire-medic and @TK3333 say.

Removing the pin through the lower triple into the stem is not an easy task and not needed to get the old bearing off. UNLESS you want to try and salvage the old bearing.

FYI; The tiny Skinny dreemel wheels are ultra fragile and REALLY Scary..
The bigger one 1.5" or so have fiberglass at the core and are LESS prone to help but they do Explode, lexan shield or even a mirror looking for the far not a bad idea
