my roomies is a 2002 they hit the rev limiter at 8.5k but have a 32 tooth sprocket. while the 04 Vrod his brother has, has a 28 tooth and red lines at 9.5k. the 02 dynoed with 104 Rwhp. im taken this to kearney yamaha tomorrow morning and havein them do some adjusting on it. i still havent recieved stock needles and springs sent from themaxrider but i cant complain from all the help he is giving me and the price!!!! the bike still has the trapps on it but the previous owner said that he thought it about going up one more jet size on the carbs. could the bike be running to lean? it doesnt poor black smoke and cruises just fine. but at WOT at anywhere above 6500rpm it sputters just a little and when you speed shift it it really stalls. and not to mention the exhaust pressure feel in the earlier post.

Stock jetting and carb parts are your best bet. Tweak the idle screws a little maybe and you'll be golden. If you get a full exhaust then you may want to go up a jet size and space the needles up a bit.

Springs and needles are leaving this morning in the mail. May take a few days to get to you, but they will arrive LOL.

Have fun and good luck!!

Hi Tom. I looked at my notes and actually used Mikuni 150's with the Supertrapps. When I went to Marks exhaust I dropped them to 147.5. Now I have Morley's kit and am running Mikuni 155 with Stage 7 needles.

Would you be willing to part with the 150's?

Thanks Tom

well i took the bike to kearney yamaha today. those guys dont seem to know much of anything about the vmax!! first off the guy at the front desk asked me "who makes that Vmax Kawasaki?" WTF Batman!!!! i couldnt believe it. then they guy who is supposed to be putting stock needles in tell me its gonna cost alot of $$$ bcuz hes probly going to have to pull the carbs off to put the needles in. next question he ask me is "how many cc's is that?"!!! thats when i said wow, ill just put the needles in myself and if it needs jets ill take it to star city cycle in Lincoln which has a dyno and will dyno tune ur max to the best performing tune

****, that's sad! Hell, if you're going to Lincoln I could meet you there and put the needles and main jets in, sync, adjust your mixture screws, etc.....for free.

Otherwise, give me a bit and I'll get the procedure to do needles done tonight and include pictures.

Wow, that's pretty scary - your better off learning how to do it yourself - than you now it's right and will be able to do it anytime in the future.

If you have questions, just ask, I'm sure we can help you!

 Mike

Hurry up will ya? I mean we have people bringing their bikes to people that think Kawasaki made the Vmax...:icon_rolleyes:

:biglaugh:

im doin the best i can themaxrider said that the needles and springs were in the mail. last night i put 6 pucks + open end cap, on both sides of the trapps in a effort to lean it out a little. and noticed that just gradually rolling into the throttle in first gear the bike really sputters and gags around 5500 to 6500. then get back to the program. also tried running it with no puck or end cap on the trapps and wow that didnt help one bit.

This sounds like the best bet.Everyone needs to see it done once.Mark you should film it while you are doing it.

Yeah, good idea Shawn. I'll get to it soon I hope. Still gradually getting swing arm service done.

well i come to lincoln quite offen, but i havent taken the bike there due to the weather. that would be great if you could give me a hand maleko89. if the work and weather works out i could let you know

well i got the stock needles and springs today and installed them about 20 mins ago. my bike is still acting funny tho? it revs fine until about 5600k when it starts cutting out until 6200k then it runs HARD! (until i shift and if falls back to 7100K then starts cutting out until 7700K. should i put the dyno jet springs back in and move the E-clip from the 3 noch from the short end to the 2nd noch from the short end?

open to any suggestion

What main jets are you using? Is your air box stock?

well my pilot air jet says 165. and im not sure on my mains. Im pretty sure im on the stock air box setup. just a K&N filter

Try shimming your needles a bit. It doesn't take much so grind down the standard washers if that's what you're going to use.

i talked to Themaxrider and im going to change out the PAJ#2's to the 170 mikuni from the 165's that are in it now

Ah, just assumed that PAJ2 was stock.

When I had Supertrapps I was all stock except 150 main jets. I was running 8 diffuser discs with open end caps.
