Companies like Corbin and Exactrep make kits to lower the passenger foot pegs for the 2nd gens. This is because the OEM pegs are located pretty high and far back to be comfortable for most passengers. It is likely your bike has one of these kits installed, but also still has the original pegs on it too. I believe the Corbin kit does away with the OEM passenger peg locations, so yours may have the Exactrep one.

If I'm right in this assumption you should be able to compare what's on your bike to the pictures in the links below to determine exactly what is on your bike.
