I did the "Crimp Fix". Or at least I think I did.
I found the crimp easily enough, but since I have never soldered before I just put a ****-ton of solder all over it and taped it back up. I don't have a voltage meter so I really don't know if it made a difference, but it made me feel better and I'm not too worried about it.

I also put on some cool looking chrome reservoir caps and chrome oil filler cap, replaced the rear signals with some nice aluminum ones and replaced some bolts from a SS bolt kit. That's all I had time for.

ps. Noob owner/mechanic question-What/where are the Upper Manifold Boot Clamps?

On the boots beteween manifolds and carbs.

When re-assembling my carbs, I broke the female section on the interior of my slide (where the springs sits). Pissed me off for about a second, but what the hell, I have 4 more months to replace it before I ride again:confused2:

KJ, gorilla glue seems to work pretty good for putting broken slides back together....certainly good enough for a back-up, anyhow. :punk:

It was the female section where the spring is. It shattered like crystal. I have a new one ordered. $70 not the cheepest part, but oh well.

Took my 94 (Strafer) to CaptainKyle's yesterday so we could check my clutch out. It's been slipping in 4th and 5th when the VBoost kicks in. This started after I got the Mark's 4-2 on and the jetting finished. My 1 dyno run showed only 101 HP. We believe the clutch had a lot to do with that.

We pulled the cover and inspected the plates and disks. Plates were glazed so Kyle bead basted them and checked for warpage. No problemo.. We compared the Disks to a brand new one from Yamaha that Kyle has for parts. The disks were not worn at all. Kyle pulled the rear 1/2 disk and found one he had left from another replacement that was actually 0.004 thicker than the new one he has.

We talked about the Double D and he had me try several bikes that he has there. My left wrist was ripped apart in an accident 42 years ago and the Doctors had to put all the bones back together and back in place. We decided it was best to leave the stock pressure. So everything went back together.

We fixed naughtyG's stator oil leak and filled the oil. Kyle had to run and get carb parts for his lawnmower. When he got back, We decided that what he had left were really 1 man jobs so I headed home. Had company coming at 5 and got home at 3 so it worked out well.

It was slobbering rain here and there on the way home. I hit one spot on a bridge that looked to be dry so I did a slow roll on. Wrong, I may as well have been on ice. Never got much past 4,000 RPM. The rear end broke loose and drifted to the right at 60 MPH. It was actually fun after I got it under control. Scared the driver behind me, he changed lane real fast.:rofl_200:I enjoy working with Kyle. Last time I was really wrenching on bikes so much was when the 2 strokes were being phased out.. 1975. Watching him work is a pleasure, he's very good. And, I learn a lot too...

Thank You CaptainKyle.... For the great lunch too..

My clutch should be working great... I just need some dry road to give it a try...

installed the new swingarm. couldn't bench test it but not gonna start the bike in the next few days as have a storm coming and then its valve time.

Worked on the 89 today. Removed all the R&R wire plugs (Lame Connections) , soldered the wires and used heat shrink. Charged the battery and actually got a ride in with no Crap from the bike.... Amazing....:biglaugh: Someday, this bike'll quit fighting back....:rofl_200:

Finished re-assembling '99's newly cleaned carbs, adjusted the floats and put the rack back on the motor. One last check of the float levels....one was 2-3 mm's high...WTF!! :ummm:

So off comes the rack, the offending carb was reset, then all 4 levels were checked again...perfect! OK, so back on the motor, airbox and cables and fired it up and sync'd the carbs.

She sounds good, clean carbs agree with her, apparently! :punk:

I wired up my new taillight from Motorcycle Mods last night while I watched the Packers destroy the Falcons.:punk:

Went out to the back shed today and cracked the door open and stuck my head in, what a beautiful sight, there they were waiting paitently for me............I spoke softly telling them in just a few short months I would be getting them ready for another adventure filled riding season!................

Well it's not the Vmax, but I got a line on a powerglide to match up with the 383 shortblock. A friend is going to help me with the conversion to a
chain drive to a single rear wheel.

This summer I should have the jig all thought out and the plans made for the frame.

I'm not going to go the supercharger route like the "quazimoto" bike, but dual carbed/nitrous fed configuration.

I'm too big to race anymore according to some friends up here, but I like to put the smiles on faces, so an exhibition bike would suit me fine. :)

I should have it finished by the time I graduate, at least thats the plan. A little grad present to me. Instead of a blower (I'd love to have one) I'm going with the stroker small block and a 250 shot of the squeeze. That should make the project a little more in my price range.

I'm going to look at the trans on saturday. I already have the shortblock and an edelbrock dual quad intake. so I'm getting there :)
