Haha, pretty sure we all fall victim to the "I just want it done now!" syndrome that leads to shortcuts only meant to be utilized for a couple days... 2 years later.... oh wow... who did that?!

Yup, that's pretty much what happened. "It's still working, I'll take care of it next weekend....." Like they say tomorrow never comes :rofl_200:

Today I finished up with the paint and the graphics. My dad made a comment, so I took the bodywork, masked it up and painted more. It's now sporting a two-tone black paint job. The engine and frame got some detail paint as well. I'll post more pictures when I get it put back together, in between study sessions.

Here is a little sample.

Voltmeter is pretty good, not highly visible in direct sunlight, but not too bright in low light either. May have to shade with my hand to see it under the sun. Just need a snapshot every now and then.

Got my matching front wheel from Morleys Muscle thanks to Sean. No I can show pics without being embarrassed by have diff. colored wheels! :punk:

Picked up an old pair of XS11 horns for $20. Going to clean them up after class this afternoon. I tested them out and nice and loud. Plus I miss my old XS11 and the sound of the hi/lo horns.

@ EN-V-MAX : I may seem to be a noob, but what is the 4 big tubes that is on the side of the carbs ?? And your handle bar is from Sean ? In this case, what is the model? Superbike ? Dragbar ??

The big tubes(velocity stacks) are the intake tubes for the flatslide carbs the bike has. It does not have stock carbs and intakes air right in the side through the stacks. I wish I could tell you something on the bars... They were on the bike when I bought it. I will tell you that I LOVE the position and style of them though. When you are riding it hard they provide a great position to hang onto!

Disassembled the XS11 horns, then media blasted and wire wheeled them. Then trated them to a nice coat of gloss and satin black. Now its tough to tell that they're 30+ years old.

It's the conventional drag bar which I don't normally recommend since it will make the controls hit the tank. In this instance he also has a bar riser (which we also sell). This shifts the bar up and back letting it clear with less reach.

Our superbike bar would put you in the exact same place but save you buying the riser (which is far more cost then just the car). BUT, some like the look of the dragbar since it looks straighter (which it isn't).

My bars dont even come close the the faux tank. I guess thats because of the risers.

I Installed the New to me OEM Scoops I bought from maxcruiser (Thanks Again ;) ).
They Look much better than the Beat up Scoops I had.
I didn't think mine were really that bad until I got these.

Yesterday I trashed that silly OEM horn and mounted a pair of Italian-made Fiamm car horns (inside the crash bars like on my '86) and fed them through a relay (which came with them) all for $35 AUD.

What a night/day difference! It went from sounding like a 50cc moped to a large luxury station wagon! I must make a recording..

Also while doing the wiring, I checked the voltage from the horn switch: only 11.2V! Straight from the battery (fused of course) I get 12.51V, and that's with the motor off.

'Ninja-man,' have you seen the Venture valve covers Sean is selling? They are a different appearance, I think they look pretty-cool. They have what appear to be ball-milled vertical fluting on the ends (it's probably just a casting) where ours are solid. Looks like a natural for some contrasting body-color in the "milled" area.

I want "Patmax" & you to have a go at my bike to make it pretty again, down to the frame, media-blasted, powder-coating, and painting, and then give it back, clean & detailed.
