While digging around Tuesday evening, I found that the oil seal at the end of my drive shaft was torn in a couple spots. I can't believe it but, I found a replacement at a local dealer.

Last night I put the back end of the bike together.

I finished up the new carbs. Had an issue with #2 wet float level. It was about 2.5mm low. I triple checked it and made sure it was sitting level. Tore it open and the float was set just right. I thought maybe the needle seat is at a different height so I opened up #1 to compare. Seem to be the same to me. This isn't making sense. Put em back together to check again. Same result. I adjusted the float 2.5 mm higher than normal, checked the wet level and it was good.

Changed the oil and filter. So much easier to change the oil on my vmax than my old yzf.

Found my oil leak which I think I caused my mashing the u-joint against itself, shot some parts cleaner in my eye, and wiped dried coolant off my motor and pipes.

Hauled it to Somerset PA to Thunder!! Met some awesome people so far and many more to come. Wish everybody else would have been able to make it.

Took the marks can off the exhaust and "science-d" an 8" cherry bomb on the pipe. My justification being that the marks can is sort of falling apart-ish, and rattles something fierce at about 2500rpm. Also I happened to have the cherry bomb "laying around", you know, for scientific purposes. It sounds mean as hell, not raspy at all, super throaty, and made my neighbors small child jump up and down in their front yard clapping, cheering and pointing as his mom tried to convince him that it definitely wasn't super cool (she was wrong, and I'm pretty sure he told her that because she made him go inside). So, my best friend is going to bust out the welder and we're going to put a proper mounting tab on it this weekend.

Pulled the mid gear cover. Dug out the shift shaft oil seal and replaced it. Put it all back together. Started it up after my first vmax valve adjusment, and building up a set of new to me carbs. I was nervous for a few minutes. ..seemed like something was wrong. It sounded like it was under water. Lots of popping thru the carbs. The idle was hanging severely. I worked on getting it dialed in but it got hot enough for the fan to kick on so I gave it a rest. Grabbed a bite then hit it again. Everything seemed to fall right into place on the second attempt.

Took it for a quick test run and it seems OK. We will find out tomorrow

Stared at my box of Carrs again... took out the front one and fondled it a bit... waiting for the money to get a modified swingarm before they go on...

Today I installed my t-boost and upgraded my grounding cables. Can't wait to see what vboost feels like coming on at 3k rpms....

It looks like a Triumph Twin from Mieriden w/it's "Peashooter" exhaust, albeit only one of them, and to a larger scale. I just dug an old chrome Kerker 4/1 for an air-cooled Kawi KZ four out of my shed. It will fit my UFO 4/1 it appears, but I am gonna do some other surface treatment on it as the chrome is not fully-intact. I might try the electrolysis method of rust removal and then just some sort of VHT-style paint. Aesthetically it should satisfy the people who complained about the big bomb appearance of my Frankencanister home-made replacement.

I think your cherry bomb exhaust adaptation looks perfectly-fine, and the cost was right, eh?

I liked the idea, and the only thing with the looks I saw was the red color, which header paint would fix. You could even cut the end off the cherry bomb, and it might look even better.

I really appreciate these homemade solutions that people come up with.

I was actually going for that almost classic cafe/scrambler look for the can, one of my good friends has a 70's cb350 setup like a scrambler with twin peashooter cans, and I like the look and sound. Plus, cherry bombs this size only run about $15-$25 depending where you buy online.

I scored this fender off of Kyle a few weeks ago. He didn't want too but I beg & beg, then I through a temper tantrum like my daughter.lol just kidding, also installed SS braided speedo cable from Sean while I had front tire off

Fixed my issue with my left rear header and it's Cobra can slipping apart. Drilled a hole, put in a set screw, and tightened the clamp over it.

Should have taken me a max of 10 minutes, but between a finding a bunch of dull drill bits, having my one sharp bit break, and having a drill that was low on charge, it took me several hours. But I am a persistent bastard, and I got the hob done lol

Damn Larry! I thought your bike couldn't look any better, new fender is a great addition!
