That one was done almost exactly 100,000 miles ago. Undetectable seepage from them. That's why I did the 16 screws one at a time. I heard it is a horror show to change them. To be honest, I don't remember how hard the job was, only that my Dad and I did it when checking valve clearances at around 36,000 miles.

Took a break from Vmax work for a couple days. I bought this 2004 **** box S10 to run around in instead of driving my 1 ton diesel everyday so I have been rebuilding the front end and making sure it is mechanically safe to cruise around in.

I like the K & L aftermarket replacement parts. Actually, they are an OEM supplier, but their own brand is less-expensive, as The Captain mentions.

I never had an S10 or the GMC version (S15) but I did drive one sometimes at work, they seemed OK, even though I had to share it with a heavy smoker. Man that car reeked of tobacco smoke, and you could see the nicotine layer on the headliner. I ended up smelling like I'd spent all night in a bar during the 1970's.

The S10 chassis is often used as a replacement for 1950's pick-up domestic trucks, to get modern components. That was the last year for the S10/S15, after that it was the Colorado Chevy and the Canyon GMC, which were eventually offered with a 5.3 liter V8 starting in 2009. That appears to be clean, is it the 4.3 liter V6 or was it changed?

It had one bad . I replaced all 4 along with pitman arm, idler arm ,all 4 tied rods and adjusting sleeves and sway bar bushings and wheel bearings. Most of it was not in that bad of shape but I just like doing everything at once and not having to worry about it for a while.

LOL, I just knew if you got your hands on it, its going to get a "tighten-up" at the very least.
I'm the same way. All rigs ready to roll, no mechanical issue's get put on the back on burner.

After years of wiping a thin layer of oil off the tops of the valve covers, I grabbed my tools and swapped all 16 of those little rubber seals beneath the chrome Allen head fasteners. Most of them were somewhat deteriorated, brittle and oily, so with any luck the seepage will stop. I managed to get them all out one at a time, the worst part was getting the old seals off the screws. Eventually I got them all, and took off for a ride. I don't expect to see results for a while, because the seepage was minor, but all 16 were bad. I did notice that the new seals compressed nicely as I tightened the screws, so I think I will be good to go.
They indeed get compressed over the years.

Yep was just going to fix the mechanical stuff and drive it as is but I already found a good deal on a fender, hood and the rusted quarter panel. I can't leave anything alone.lol I cleaned the interior up and it looks great. It will be a while before I get that rear quarter put on but at least I have it.

Kyle, a 'square-body' C-10 concept which has some 1st Generation Camaro SS396 in it. I know it's a lot earlier than your S-10, but I thought you might be interested in the rendition. I dunno if the guy put the 'waffle-irons' in the hood. One of my friends in high school got a new '68 SS396 Camaro 4-speed, and he drove it the opposite of what you'd think a 17 year-old would. He took great care of it. Another guy worked construction and bought a new 440GTX which was probably the biggest 'competition' for it.

Not today but over the past could of evenings, fitted a LED halo cut off switch for the fuel pump.

Who will be the first to spot it....

Is the increase in the number of hammers indicative of how difficult/frustrating the job was? (no hammers in 1st photo, 1 in 2nd and 2 big hammers in last photo). o_O
