Why a Vmax?

That's pretty interesting that someone would take the time and trouble to convert a V-Max into a Trike. I know trikes are getting popular with the Baby-Boomers, but I'd like to see exactly what they used for the conversion.

Plenty of Vmax trikes have been done.This is a friend of mine but it is Turbo instead of supercharged now.

I was 22 years old when I saw the Vmax in all motorcycle magazines for the first time, around 1985. It was a love affair but I was scared about getting one. I had a 1975 Honda 400f at the time. I only got my first Max two years ago and I just love it. Will never sell it.

Not had a bike in 30 yrs (CB500T with sidewinder sidecar - driven on car license). In general m/bikes & I don't gell. Massive & deeply unpleasant change in my life got me thinking - How about a trike? They'd always intrigued me. Spent time looking but nothing grabbed my attention until I saw the Vmax one I bought. I'd never even heard of the Vmax until then (not paid attention to bikes post CB500).
That's the background, here's the answer to your Q: Looks. Stopped me in my tracks, jaw flapping. Then reeled in on the rep. - the 'otherness' - the nonconformity. Such stuff always grabs my ADHD autistic brain.
Bit by bit I'm getting this shysters deathtrap of a trike conversion into something worth while & rideable.

FireMedic, do you happen to have detailed pictures of the blower setup in your friends trike? The turbo setup is interesting too.

Sean Morley probably has a lot of pics of turbos and supercharged bikes he's built. I don't have much for pics of those setups besides what I've posted.

One year at Boxenstopp's in Holly Hill/Daytona Beach, Joe (the proprietor, now deceased) had a supercharger setup in the display case, for sale.

I saw an advertisement for one in 85 in a magazine-went to dealer and he said he would be getting in one in in a month. Kinda forgot about it and dealer called me up and said his first one came in. Told him I probably wasn't interested in it any more, he told me "stop by and take a look, maybe take it for a ride". What the hell I thought, "Free test ride!". When I hit 2nd gear and the V-Boost kicked in-wheel up-Whoa! took it back and said "You *******! Where do I sign!!!!" He apparently new me quite well!

I just make the cut for a Baby-boomer
Mine's a '98 Canadian vers someone imported to the UK in mid 2000s. I didn't convert it myself but I am having to re-do & fix a lot of issues (some, down right dangerous).
English back axle (Mk1 ford escort). See pic's in my above post.

Edit. Just saw your comment about corners. Can't say for the that other lovely but mine's a pig. Though I'm currently on a stock front end & have 5" trail. Another thing to fix (& more £s). Looking get some 4deg raked triple trees & get that down to app. 2.5".

Vmax is what I call a bike of passion. I modified mine to look different but the engine and the rest of the configuration is just awesome that got me hooked. Gen 1 is an old dog but still manages to impress people today. Never tried Gen 2, will do eventually.

Glad I asked the question. If there ever will be a "Back to the future 4", it should have a Vmax as the new time machine. It would fit the bill in many ways. No problems hitting 88 to start with.

Saw one aged 16/17. Picked my jaw up, dried my underwear and drooled a bit more. Took me 32 years to get one.

I saw that foldout add in Cycle World in 85, and knew I had to have one. I had been riding yamaha dirt bikes since I was little. At that time, I had just graduated from high school a couple years earlier and was riding a Kaw 500 two stroke triple. I didn't think anything could be faster than that, except the 750 h2. I came into some money in 86 from working a bunch of OT, and decided to pay myself back with a new bike. went up to my yamaha dealer, and they had two, a purple and a midnight blue. I bought the blue one, and still have it. still brings a smile to my face every time I run it up to 100.

I will never forget the day I took delivery. Back in those days no test rides, so didn't know what to expect. the mechanic that prepped my by was a pro flat track racer. to this day I remember him telling me, make sure you have it pointed in a straight line before you get on it. boy was he right. on the way home, I hit a long straight, slowed down to almost a stop, and hit it hard in first gear, ran it through second, hit third, looked down and I was doing 90. I was like "oh ****" this thing is a rocket.
