    Oh crap moment....

I got pretty banged up about 15 years ago. Last year I had a friend that had just gotten his first road bike; he asked me if there was anything I could have done to avoid that wreck. I said, "Maybe I shouldn't have been riding around like a f-ing idiot." I think the same thing applies here.

So we have a motorcycle now....

I'm fighting this battle with my wife's '83 GS550. Turned out to be a leaking carb float. Those old zooks use a vacuum actuated fuel valve so gas won't flow out of your tank unless the engine is running. So when you let the thing sit because it runs like crap and you're too busy to fix it the...

    Anybody Recognize this?

Upon further inspection, there are two problems with the crankcase vent restrictor theory. The "hole" in the center is just a dimple, so it is more of a plug. The other problem is that the crankcase doesn't appear to be vented; as in there is no vent line nor an opening in the case for one to...

    Anybody Recognize this?

That's a relief, thank you gentlemen. Guess its time to replace the breather hose.

    Anybody Recognize this?

The clutch is still hung up on my wife's GS550L. When I pulled the clutch cover off, this fell into my drain pan. Any ideas where it is supposed to live? As always, you guys are awesome and thanks for the help.

    Electric Harley

When I was a kid my dad bought me this toy robot that you put a few drops of 3 in 1 oil in the head and when you turned it on the oil would heat up and it would make smoke come out the ears. It also smelled like burning 3 in 1 oil. Maybe Harley can do the same thing. Just put an oil tank...

    Cursed Zook

So my wife lowsided her '83 GS550 the other day, presumably due to a sticking float. I got the carbs sorted out, I think, but when I took it out the damn thing dies when I pull the clutch in and snaps back to life when let it out. I under the clutch is taking some load off but not enough...

Not a Max, but you guys are F-ing brilliant.

Okay here goes, My wife just got her license and needed starter bike, cause she dropped my baby once and that was enough. Apparently it is "too heavy". So I got her this '83 Suzuki GS550L, she loves it. I rode it on the day we got it and once to fill it with gas. Today she laid it down...

    Interesting thought..

Ethanol is the on of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on the American people. The corn we are being forced to burn in our cars was supposed to be fed to pigs and cattle, small time farmers can't afford to feed corn instead of selling. Oh, and you expend significantly more fuel that one...

    Two up advice needed.

Mine are at 5 and 4 per the manual. It handles fine, just a little rough on the pillion. I grew up on dirt bikes; I just stand up. I might try playing with the adjusters to see if I can find a better setting. Do I need to lift the rear tire to adjust? Thanks for the idea.

    Two up advice needed.

She starts her class on Thursday night. Right now she just wants to pillion; I'm hoping she changes her mind after she gets through the class. I've never been a fan of two up riding. In my experience even a girl with a pre wedding cake body throw of the handling too much for my taste.

    Two up advice needed.

She's actually pretty quiet back there, she wanted them so she could have music more than anything else; which I have to admit is pretty nice.

    Two up advice needed.

Okay VMax gurus I need you help. My wife and I put on 150 miles two up this afternoon, which I know isn’t notable for many of you guys; but it’s the most we have done thus far. This is my first season with the bike after all. My little adventure included some of Wisconsin’s “might be...

Why are we not having this here??

I think the geography is hurting us over here. I'd love to see something like this happen, but I don't have the resources to put it together. I really want to make it down to Topeka, but its a 2 day ride one way for me; I'm having trouble selling it to the Mrs.

First day out ,need some advice.

Took my new to me 2003 out for a short jaunt(5 miles) today. The purpose was mainly to get the bike from interim storage to my garage.; but it did raise a couple questions. #1 It started right up but there was a lot of snap, crackle, pop(no flames) and didn't want to idle. Once it got warmed...

LED taillight with an odd problem

We got 18 fresh inches this week, at least that is what the Mrs. said. I'm working out of town for 2 weeks. Huh, I hope she meant snow.

    Maxiboost draining battery?

Couldn't see how that would drain the battery if installed correctly. Should just be feeding a modified trigger pulse to the vboost controller. The T-boost on mine doesn't drain the battery only the gas tank and the wallet. It's not wired across the carb chains is it? Does anyone know the...
