Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

Zack and I have been in a lot of discussions over the politics we've written about. My political views haven't changed, we need a major cleansing of both of the Major Political Parties. Too far Right and too far left. There seems to be no middle ground left. I've expressed my views on the issues and I'm unwavering. We need a Government that's truthful and for the People. Not special interests and personal gain.

People here have the right to vote Yes or No and even Maybe. It's not our role to question why. The majority still rules but this isn't a Political Forum. Many here believe the Awards are in some way for Vmax related articles, events, writings, adventures or even misadventures. I have the Posting Excellence Award already but would expect some controversy if nominated for my Posts in the Women on Bikes Pics thread. :ummm:JMTAHO

You can now throw rocks at me if you wish but watch for the ricochets.:rofl_200:

BTW: I'll continue to Post in Women on Bikes,,,, Awards or Not.:clapping:

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

I, for one, have not voted. I have a viable interest in where politics go in this country but IMO the whole political process is a convoluted process at best but more than likely is a self-perpetuating morass of ego, cronyism and greed. There are Sunday morning talking heads that are paraded out to either soothe or chafe the politics in one’s group’s favor or another. I’m sure Zack would even admit that what we see and hear is a scrubbed and polished version to present the political morass in a palatable form for the public masses.
So in deference to Garrett’s call to find out why people voted no, I am giving my point of view as a non-voter on this matter. While I do read and try to see my way through the points of view, some which are enlightening, some are humorous and some make me wonder where the thoughts could have possible originated, I'm choosing not to be involved in this area of the forum. I realize this is an informal and cordial discussion but is not an arena (this motorcycle forum) that lends any comfort level for me as a discussion to be involved in.
I have the general policy that any lengthy discussion involving politics, religion and other hot button topics can take precedence over all else, work, friendships and family . The potential for it to be escalated to a confrontational level, create divisions and emotional strife in a place that was setup on the subject of our love for the legend of the Yamaha Vmax and Star Vmax. I am not advocating that this or any subject be banned, changed or imposed upon in any manner.

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

I didn't vote on this but if I were to guess why people are voting no is because I think a lot of guys want this to be based on Vmax specific articles and not political views. Politics are a sensitive subject with some people and its an opinion that very few share exactly the same. I try to stay clear of political conversations because they are so opinionated. But, that's just MY opinion.

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

:rofl_200: @ my thread becoming something of a controversy in and of itself. I can't help but kick a little bit of mud around I guess.

The fellas are making a great point though. Most of my posts have been about things that are not a V-Max. When it comes to the very nature of this forum I'm a bit of a noob as I just got mine this August, and I'm not a gearhead to begin with. Everything I do to my machines is based on a wealth of knowledge from forums like this, youtube howto's, and manuals. So I tend to leave off and let the fellas that have been in and out of this machine since 85 give much more educated responses than I could.

When something comes up that I do know a thing or two about I do try and go the extra mile though.
RE: Best RPM to Shift At - I gave the fuel economy shift points from the owners manual as a reference, then threw out my personal preferences.
Re: What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2 - I posted a bunch of before, during, and after shots of the fat max install. Mainly because I was having trouble finding some high res shots and a good view of just the brackets and a solid idea of what would be involved in turn signal relocation.

Over the winter I'll be doing at minimum some race tech spring installs and I'll add to the already great howto thread in all likelihood. As time goes on and I get more familiar with the bike I'll contribute where I can and typically with references or hi-res photos. I don't think I'll ever be able to chime in like some of the guys who do full on customs or fab up their own parts and tech for these though. I do hope that as a hobbyist 'bolt-on' kind of guy I can offer some 'dumb-it-down' details to what I work on just as a few others have for their clutch mods and suspension installs to my great benefit.

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

i voted "no". it's nothing personal. i don't discredit his opinions and embrace the non-conspiracy ladened facts that he laid out. matter of fact, i have learned some very interesting things and have adjusted my views more towards the center after being schooled. he and i could probably enjoy a cordial discussion over a couple of beers with the civility that i believe is missing in today's exchange and presentation of ideas. however, and i don't mean "only motorcycle, vmax, motor vehicle, yada yada yada kind of posts should be submitted" because i sincerely welcome the free-spirited, unabridged, uncensored, over-opinionated thoughts and images that keep this forum from collecting dust; but, and this is just my personal opinion, i just think the awards should recognize and promote achievements that reflect the core subject matter of this forum. i agree, that ZackDaniels' contributions are beneficial to the liveliness of this forum and the ability to post whatever one wants (shy of child porn and distasteful acts of hatred) is what keeps this forum interesting, entertaining, and remunerative. but it's like if one of us posted a bunch of "why harleys are and aren't a detriment to the biker lifestyle" kind of threads in a forum that is geared towards politics and then being bestowed an award for them.

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

I'll still post in Women on Bikes ninjaneer and some may be pretty young.:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

I try not to aggarvate anyone.I personally like the way the forum is,Not just about bikes ,But about anything. It's like i tell my wife.If i hurt you ,I hurt me,I dont believe zack has done anything but be imformative.Ill stick to my yes vote. Were not just bikers. We Are brothers. If i get to what i call a bad apple .I do my best to leave them alone. They will bi!!h and moan. And finally just go away.Everyone that knows me knows i cant spell for ****.But most seem to get what im talking about. And no two people agree on everything. And with some i just agree to disagree. And leave it at that. It's our differences,That make us who we are.Zack is just posting his opinion,And doing a pretty good job.No i havent kept up with every post,So mabye im wrong.I just aint got the heart.

Re: Award Request for ZackDaniels!

some very good discussion. i'm sorry for asking 'why'. i should have clarified. it was more of a personal question, not a moderator question. people are free to vote as they choose.

with over double the people voting yes than no i'm going to award this.

carry on!
