i . " GARRETT " , CAN YOU GET ANOTHER FLYWHEEL FROM " MORLEY " ? .. :confused2: .. OR MAYBE SOMEONE HERE ON THE FORUM HAS AN EXTRA ! .. :confused2:.. THIS WAY YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO SCREW WITH IT !

morley offers the machine work and flywheel work for 1/2 the price of a used flywheel, so i'm going to pursue that first.

flywheels were the same all years yea?

i'll keep that in mind gonna talk to the local motorcycle machine shop tomorrow.
As far as I know they are the same. Only problem is a lot of my stuff is in a warehouse now & I cant find my key so I would have to wait untill my buddy gets back in town Wednesday or Thursday to get it.

Kyle, Got any extra space in that Warehouse??? I may need it...:rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

Congrats Garrett....

I thought there was a change with the pickup coils, older bikes had 4 and newer ones have 2....I'd assume that means the flywheel had to change also.

The next time the flywheel will come off if you look at it funny. Mine wasn't really that hard the first time(impact gun, minisledge, and autozone puller worked for me), and the second time I didn't even need a hammer, the impact gun on the puller bolt popped it right off easy as could be.

85-89 had 4 p/u's and 90+ had just one. Different flywheels also.

Yeah jad my head up my ass forgot about the ignition change. Not sure if I have a new one here or not.

np don't kill yourself yet, i know mine can be reworked for a certain amt, still figuring out what to do.

So, the only problem with your flywheel is a broken bolt?

with an extractor sheared off in there as well.

so once its drilled out i htink the 8mm threads will be shot, so i was going to have a shop make them all 10mmx1.5 threads, and then just make sure it was still balanced. there are some marks on the back from the puller. i don't know how exact the balancing has to be.

You can always drill new holes beteween old ones.

Re-threading to the bigger size is also a good idea, balancing will not change in the level it could make a diffrence.

At least you didnt bent it even a little?

i like the bigger hole idea, that bolt is going to have to be removed for balancing purposes anyways.

i don't think i bent it unless the puller did, which i hope the machine shop can tell, if thats the case then i'll just buy a used one.

can you re-phrase "balancing will not change in the level it could make a difference"?

I doubt that any larger bolt will change the flywheel balancing in the way you should worry about.

They are not balanced with a high spec - just like crank, pistons and rods in this damn motorcycle LOL

You should be able to drill the broken bolt from the backside. Then it will dull the bit when it hits the extractor. Use a punch to knock that back out and you'll have a nice hole after that. Should be able to use the newer style extractor after that.
