Bo is advancing his " class warfare " program on the country again by limiting the plain people / working class / middle class to how many rounds ( 10 ) , he thinks we need to protect our kids , while his kids , politicians kids and the hollywood elitist class kids will be protected by the professionals , private security companys , / military / secret service . I'm sure he will force them to only use 10 round mags like the rest of us.
That's what they do. It's in the liberals , socialists , marxists , communists playbook .
Exactly.

executive order means very little.banning any kind of gun would have not stopped a killing. more people are killed by a stupid hammer than a assault rifle. 323 for assault rifle 462 for claw hammer.

There are a couple points in the bill that seem to be traps for the law abiding citizen.....

(1) Within one year of the effective date, all weapons defined as assault
weapons under the new "one-feature" test, as well as weapons
grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban, must be
registered

First find out WHERE and HOW MANY assault weapons are out there.......THEN begins the systematic confiscation, and it won't be that difficult either....once the reality of registration hits home the next step will be easier. Bet that initial registration fee is gonna be steep....this program is gonna cost a ton, guess who's footing the bill. (hey you wanted that gun.....)

(2)Section 48 of the bill amends the Penal Law to require that every
county recertify a gun license holder's license every five years.
Failure to recertify during this five year period equates to
revocation of the license. The section also adds bases for denial of a
license to an applicant, including connection of a felony or serious
offense, being presently subject to an order of protection; and
expands the criteria for denial based on an applicant's history of
mental illness

CCW's are going to take a little longer to eliminate but again, once permit holders are accustomed to periodic renewals (with ever increasing fees of course....and hey, you wanted those handguns....) then systematic denials are easy, the "basis for denial" can easily be ammended to include whatever target group is next in line.

Paranoid thinking? Maybe.......:confused2:

I feel for you Danny, I really do... I guess what should happen is looking into impeachment but unfortunately I'm not sure that would gather enough support... Best bet is probably a class action lawsuit and I'd use the Heller case as an example because the supreme court has already said it's an individual right and they phrased it ?in common use at the time? so a semiautomatic rifle is pretty damn common so I'd imagine there would be a case there if you guys can find a law firm willing to take on "the machine" of New York's big politics... Just my thoughts bud...

Maybe a little paranoid :) If you're going to allow existing assault weapons to be grandfathered in. How else can you grandfather them without knowing who already has them for sure? I'm not familiar with existing registrations in NY though so maybe this is just unnecessary?

There is a petition circulating for impeachment already....don't think it'll go anywhere but there is some action taking place within the senate, some of them are not happy about how the process was handled.

Who owns them has nothing to do with it Zack....either a certain weapon is allowed or it isn't....doesn't matter how many there are or which person has one.

Grandfather them in just like they were banned....one sentence signed by the guv.

Well it would though I would think. Grandfather clauses are typically non-transferable and non-adjustable. I'm talking about things unrelated to guns even... going with the everyday cellphone plans. When rates go up and/or plans change you can typically keep your lower rate/better plan, but you can't transfer it or add another line without going to a new one. Knowing the serial # and the current owner would be required of any grandfather clause.

I guess I misunderstood that there's no ban in place even in NY. Which makes the grandfather language totally confusing?

ZACK,
THEY AREN'T BANNING ASSAULT WEAPONS.
It is a lie! They are banning common target pistols, self defense hand guns and semiautomatic rifles along with any common firearm capable of holding more than seven rounds.

This isn't a "ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN". That term is being used by dishonest politicians lying to the uninformed about their most recent action to gut the people of New Yorks 2nd amendment right.

Assault weapons are ALREADY ILLEGAL.

Did I just read you comparing a constitutional right to a cell phone plan Zack????:puke::barf::wacko:

Giving an explanation of what a grandfather clause typically works like. Regardless of application.

Except with no ban, there's no need for such a clause... so I dunno?

I went over to the local gun guys shop yesterday to see what he had for pistols....been thinking about getting another one for some time and this seems like a good time to do it. He had a couple dozen rifles and almost that many pistols in the case.

I was there for a couple hours and Rocco (the gun guy) spent most of that time on the phone trying to get guns that customers requested....in each instance he had to tell them he couldn't get what they wanted.

Then he got a call from his supplier....a large nationwide guns & ammo supply house....informing him that they would no longer ship to New York State....no rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammo....nothing.

When those few rifles and pistols he has left on the shelf are sold (which will probly be in the next few days) Rocco is out of business!

Cuomo has just slaughtered a nice little 'cottage industry' with his arrogance! Had this bill been run through the normal debate/discussion process many of the problems and outright errors that are now law would have been picked up and changed. Instead, in his haste to capitalize on the Sandy Hook Elem. drama, he used some executive voodoo called a "message of necessity" to ram the bill through. Now he's got a huge blob of **** on his nose and ruined many political careers as well! Of course there will be some payback exacted in the next election!

They screwed the pooch so hard on that one Danny that I simply cannot believe he isn't out of office yet... It's always the little guys and girls that pay the price..

There's major controversy fer sure. He really should have taken the time to check this kneejerk thing over a little more carefully. Remington Arms in Ilion NY will most likely close up shop and move to a more friendly environment...probly created another ghost town there!

Obviously no thought whatsoever was given to how this bill would affect local economies.....very ugly stuff!

Sidenote: Anybody got a Sig P250 Full size .45? How do you like it, any issues?

This is a letter I wrote to my local sheriffs department..

Hi my names Matt Donnelly* First I want to state that I and the rest of the community are deaply sadden by the tragic evens that have happen in the past year to innocent people and our children. Excpecially the tragic morning in Webster that our fellow volunteer first responders were targeted.*

Im a current employee and helicopter mechanic at DS2 which is a government contractor for aircraft maintenance for US Customs and Border Protection up in Niagara Falls but i was born and raised and currently reside in Alexander. Im also a member of the alexander fire department. Ive been working with CBP for 5 years now so law enforement is nothing new to me ( well in the sceem of things 5yrs isnt squat) but the anger and discrace up there about what happened this past monday night I can tell im sure multiple agencies in NY are feeling the same way. Expecially how they never put in the law that law enforcement was excempt just shows how unthought out this law was. No one quite knows what going on right now in any agency Ive heard of yet, Well that to me is more proof that this law wasnt thought out. It excpecially got to me even move*today*listening to Sandy Beach talking to Mr Mark Grisanti on WBEN*today. A listener called in and asked Mark why he voted for a law that *infringed on our second ammendment. He responded about the bill originally had confenscation of both firearms and ammunition and also included semiauotmatic shotguns with fixed magazines as assault weapons. He kept insisting he fought to get those removed which they did so he felt it was less than what it was before. When the caller got a little agravated stating that if its less of an infringment on the second ammendment it still infringing Mr Grisanti said yes but its less. Now im sure anyone listening to that blew threw the roof as he strait admitted it infringes our second ammendment and yet was still voted threw. Also an FFL dealer called in stating that he contacted the Fed background check place about doing a background check on individual sales and they said they will not do it, if they say that about personal sales there will be no way they will do a background check for ammunition. *Now im sure you heard of Kathy Marchione's petition, *she is a NY Senator of the 43rd Senate District we have people from the government standing up for whats right, also Mr Steven McLaughlin who is an assembly man in the now famous you tube video standing up for us aginst Mr Lentol. In my oppinion the second most famous phrase of thiswhole debate "change the clip" Mr Lentol say change the clip to the citizens if they had to defend there house and family against intruders. Now you guys know as well as I do that criminals dont care about laws and this obviously will have no effect other than law abiding citizens that went threw there pistol training, paid for background checks, and passed there background check to legally poscess a pistol and past the back ground check to own a AR15 for either varmit hunting and or sport shooting. Well it even effects citizens that have either an 870 or mossberg 500 with an extended tube for home defense. Now I understand that anyone can post anything on the internet but forthe most part agencies like you guy have there internet activity lock up not anyone can start a facebook representing Genesee County Sheriffs. As im sure the same for Schuyler County Sheriff. This link is what they recently posted on there facebook about the circumstances. *I guess im trying to say after all this that everyone needs to stand up against this if we all feel our rights are being attacked. We need folks like sheriffs, local police, and government official to show Andrew Cuomo what he did is not right as it infringes our constitutional right. Now if our US Congress passes a law that a whole nother battle. But no state has the right to take away from a constitutional right of a US Citizen. *Thank you for your time*
