Installed the rebuilt clutch slave, blew out the line and installed the modded clutch lever and master cylinder from Turbovmax and filled/bled with DOT 5.

Also shimmed the needles .021"....then went for a ride. Man, that clutch is totally different, lever has no lateral play, very positive feel!!

Great job Gary!! Thanks! :thumbs up::cheers::thumbs up:

BTW, separating the rear headers from the mid pipe was a pain in the ass. I just separated the Mark's mid pipes and left the headers on until I could free everything from the bike. I twisted and used PB Blaster. It was cool, because of all the friction when twisting the exhaust joint was super hot to the touch. Man, Mark makes tight fitting exhaust systems!

Here are some pics. I just cleaned the air filter and tested for cleanliness with my tongue. Trust me, it works. :)

Same here - I got mine back from Gary and fitted it today, and it feels so much better, especially with that double-D clutch.

Nice one Gary! :worthy::worthy::worthy:

I have already removed the rear wheel, final drive, swing arm, covers, air box and exhaust system. Those pieces I won't document since they are outlined nicely in the Clymer. The only things I have left before beginning are the u-joint/plate, carbs, engine guards and radiator covers/mounts.

Wow you actually need to take ALL of these just for the mounts? Blimey that's a job and a half I better plan for time carefully..

Maybe on FL Tech Day with 15 hands.. :eusa_dance:

Thank You! That's a nice mod, did one for myself and was pretty impressed. Nice to not have any slop in the lever and that roller bearing should last forever. Don't know about you guys... but one of the things that's always annoyed me about the Vmax is the reach on the levers. I have small hands I guess... although I think they are normal. I usually put the lever in a vise and bend it back toward the bar a little bit. Was thinking of making up some billet aluminum levers incorporating the bearing mod. Anybody interested? Maybe I could put up a few designs and get some feedback.

for the rears. the fronts are cake (relatively speaking), from what i've read.

yesterday rode it. was behind a car and noticed my headlight went out. switched to low beam, and it worked, so i picked up a new headlight. sylvannia silverstar ultra. $28 at autozone, had a $20 credit so $8.

i was surprised to see it go so quick (7k miles this year) but i guess those probably aren't meant to have highbeams on all the time. i probably have my lows on less than 1% of the time.

will replace at some point today.

SHOULD do the oils.

Sounds interesting Gary. I'm ok with the reach and pull of the stockers but I would like the ball bearing pivot for a smooth pull and a different design just to be, well, different.
