Yea, dripping the bike always sucks.

I'm thinking a cool Black with Candy red stripes or vice versa would look good on your 2006. I'm sure we could always do one up and trade you out. Did the paint chip or is there hope to do paintless dent removal?

Sean

Thanks Guys, appreciate the offers.
I had a set of red anodized levers and Obreron mirrors on it when it fell over.
I had a set of new levers laying around which I put on yesterday.
And I put on my old mirrors. Forgot how big those damn things are.
I'll order a new windscreen Tuesday, hopefully I'll have it in time for Deals Gap.
As for the airbox cover. Well that'll just have to stay ****** up till I get money for a paint job.
I'm off to change the oil and ground the kick stand stop down a bit, hopefully that'll give her a bit more lean.
I hear ya on that luckily I haven't had any problem, I will dig the kickstand into the dirt if I can. Need to cut off a inch or so and maybe put on a hair bigger pad for the hot and soft asphalt and sandy locations I seem to stop at.
I hope you get your new windscreen before D/G!

Where the handle bar hit on the right side it is just a scratch down to the metal. On the left side it just scuff the paint and put a mall indent. I was able to push the small indent back out, but I can still tell it was dented.
I still have my old one too. I was going to give it to Walt and let him fix repaint that one. But haven't gotten around to it yet.
This one isn't dented so It just needs a repaint.
I was also thinking just get a wrap like KJ had to cover it for now.
What you got on Hand Sean?
I don't have the funds for a whole new set of skins, but I might be able to swing a trade on my cover for one If the paint will match my fenders and what not.

We can paint your old cover no problem. Send it when you get a chance. We can fix up the old dents and when painted will look like new. If we shoot it black to match your fenders then we put a stripe or something like that on it I would say $200. plus return shipping (which you can even prepay).

Robert & Brian...02Moneypit was talking about making some adjustable kickstands...that might be an option.

I just ground the stop down on the kickstand today and it leans over really well now. The kickstand moves forward almost an inch more at the foot now. I shouldn't have any more issues with it being blown over.
I didn't realize the pavement was really sloped where I stopped, plus it's lowered and inch. I was dealing with being totally drenched at the time so I didn't pay any attention to the ground being uneven.

dealing with my never ending battle with the rear wheel.

hey guys, the rubber bushing came out of the metal part. rubber is in good enough shape to re-use. took me about 1.5 hours to get it out of the wheel, but how would u attach the rubber to the metal? i have some epoxy gel.

looked around, i think a weatherstripping/gasket adhesive would be best. will stay flexible and made for warmer temps (as the wheel does get quite warm). plus i won't have epoxy dripping all over that way. anyone see a downside here? since thats also made to mate metal and rubber i figure its good.

did you do that with the engine in or out of the bike? Mine needs this so badly too..
In the bike its not to bad to do & you can do a decent job I have done quite a few I had my carbs off so they were out of the way & i had my fuel tank out to but you dont really need to take it out I just had it out for cleaning get your foot pegs & shifter linkage out of the way & go for it or wait till the 26th & I can give you a few more tips.

over the past few days:

-did the vac mod. starts a LOT easier now. not sold on it yet, esp with running vboost open.
-leaned out my needles, bike was too lean. put it back to where it was. its a little rich being always open, but if i goto stock on a whim it'll be right on. better to be rich/normal than lean/normal
-had a couple little hiccups with the bike. found one COP not all the way on. hopefully that was it
-put the rubber damper back in using a rubber/metal epoxy. dried in an hour
-brought it in for a new rear shinko. $25 mounted.
-lost the vavle stem cover tho. gonna have to find new ones.
-had to drill and tap out the bolts for the dust guard on the rear rim. the screws were all ****** up. brought it out to a 6mm x 1mm x 20mm screws instead of 5mm x .8mm x ~15mm?

Rebalanced the new front Shinko on the '06....took 2 3/4 oz in weights and 1 oz of dyna beads but the mirrors are clear to 100 mph now....so it's good enough for me.

That's kinda my homegrown version of 'spin-balancing' but it works and it's a good excuse for going fast!! :biglaugh:

Wiring. I hate wiring. I suck at any kind of wiring on a 12V system.
It took all day but I finally have the fog lights wired, they're nothing special but in traffic or fog I really like having the extra light.
And I put a switch in for the Vboost so I can turn it off, so it won't kick in on my upcoming trip to the mountains and launch me off the road mid-corner.

I installed the switches for both on the black side cover by the scoop.

My soldering is much better than it was when I started riding. I think I'm getting the hang of it!

u splice into the black wires?

Pulled a dumb ass move. When adjusting my rear brake last weekend I forgot to tighten one of the foot peg mounting bolts. Today on my commute home the bolt loosened and jammed my pedal so that it was useless. It eventually fell out and peg was kinda just hanging there. I should have let Heretic tighten that bolt....it would've been on there forever.

Put R1 Cops on today, very happy. 21st century tech on a 20th century bike.
