Playing the same game here, bodywork from Germany and mirrors from Italy en route. Dunno why all the really cool stuff for a japanese bike, designed for the american market, comes from europe, but there it is.

At least the exchange rate isn't too terrible atm.

This week I pulled the faux tank, seat, air box, coil and battery. Went after the splice, found and fixed. (it had not been done yet) The plug wires on the coil side had some better days, but I clipped off a quarter inch or so to show some fresh copper and cleaned up the coil. Front one was fine.
Cleaned the outside of the carbs with spray seafoam. Found that they have not been drilled out or anything like that. The hose to the bottom of the airbox was not connected and the carb boots were loose. There is a article on this forum that said to check this stuff before pulling carbs. I am glad I did. I had the pop here and there and I am not sure which caused it.
The things I have mentioned here fixed whatever the problem was.
It runs great now. Really happy. If was not for everyone here and the articles they have posted, I may have not been able to correct this.
So this is big thankyou to all who have taken your time to post to make it easier for us newer max owners.:worthy:

I wish, have not been able to ride since about november 15.
Still have about 2 feet of snow. Calling for more minus 20c this week.
So no sign of spring here yet. Starting to look like it will be the end of april before we can get out. Will be a long 5 months.:bang head:

I was thinking of that but I have to gather all the parts first. I have read the posts on that mod, and when I saw the greenish, bluish stuff on the copper in the plug wires I new something had to be done. Funny though
the back two had this at the coil and not the plug boots and the front did not have any at all.

Tried to change my main jets, drill out the slides, and put the new springs in....only to find out that I couldn't bust loose the float bowl drain screws. Then I also noticed that the screws holding the covers over the slides weren't normal screws....I needed a tamper-proof torx that I didn't have. Then I couldn't even get the carbs off the engine either. They wouldn't budge. So I said piss on it, took it to the dealership, and my buddy is gonna take care of it for me.

I was able to get a portion of Sean's muscle kit installed though. It wasn't a COMPLETELY useless day.

Im about to start repairing the moneypit after a long and disappointing attempt to go to daytona bike week.First the weather was shit the entire way,was suppose to go to alabama park the truck and trailer and ride the rest of the way but the weather was horrible, tornado warnings everythere. Then decided to drive the truck and bikes to milton florida, get there and shit weather again.Called bill warner(wild brothers) and asked him if i could park the truck at his place,he said yes then proceded to tampa, got there at 11 at night on saturday 23 degrees, went for a little ride then to the hotel.Woke up to hail the size of marbles on sunday so we packed up the bikes again and left for davenport 1.5 hours from daytona got a hotel and went for a little ride.Woke up to sun but only 4 degrees, waited until it warmed up a little unloaded the bikes and while i was waiting for the bike to warm up the wind or the devil knocked over my bike causing about 2 grand in damage.Packed up and came the fuck home and the repairs are on the way.:confused2::bang head:

Sorry bout the bad luck on your trip man.
That's why it's always best to come to Bike Week for the 2nd weekend.
The First Weekend is never the best time to come.
It was in the 40's to the 80's with clear blue skies the 4th to the 8th.

I will try to get some pics of the new levers on soon, also picked up my development booklet for the 09 max today and got my # badge for the bike.Early deposit # 012,very pleased with that #.Vin # 000049,also very pleased with this # as well.:eusa_dance:

Twiddling thumbs..... how the $%@* long does it take to ship stuff from germany anyway.

Boxenstopp, right?
I'm still waiting on parts from Germany that I ordered through him.....I ordered the parts on Jan. 23rd. It's really getting annoying by now. It doesn't take THIS long to ship from Germany to the U.S. I know. I shipped a car stereo and 2 6x9's to my buddy in Germany and it took a LOT less time than this is taking.

New fork springs/seals and Givi windshield arrived, and new tires on order. A couple winter projects to keep me busy.

-25C plus the windchill feels like -30 (thats -13F for the majority of you). Winter sucks!!!!
