I missed the chrome ceramic..where is this from? Is there a detailed pic of it? May keep this in mind for the future.

It's not really chrome. It's just a really shiny ceramic silver. I polish it to keep its luster.:thumbs up:

Winter mods ?

Winter is my riding session !!!!:punk:, on Summer it's too hot to ride over here, I prefer drive a car with a good A/C

Love that rear rim you have (18" Sportmax I believe). I am not ready to part with the bucks to swap.

Call me crazy but what I hate are the radiactor cover reflectors. They catch my eye too much. I really doubt they are going to save anyone from getting hit on the side. I used black electrical to cover those. I wish there was something better but I don't want a chrome grill or some weird aftermarket cover.

The saddle-look seat is ugly to me so I'm having Sean mod that.

I went with 12" rear shocks because the rear looks pretty good jacked up a bit (but no gap between tire and fender).

The Supertrapps are my favorite look as well.

Attached is a photoshop pic of what mine should look like after the seat is done (the scoops are faked in the pic but I did just get the real ones that look the same). Once I get the seat I'll use the actual pic.

Have you looked at my "stock" side covers? :whistlin:

:coolgleamA:

Things are a bit cluttered here to find. Could you attach a pic?

Hal

The garage is the best place to look at bikes...

But ask and you shall receive.

I am a pic whore after all...
Ok the reflection sucks and they're the only pics I have on my Mac. The reflector is there but glued in, sanded down flush then glued in around the edges. The metal thing is removed the hole filled with body glue and sanded and then the the whole thing was painted black and then cleared. Looks great IMO.

Replaced the Fork springs with Racetech 1.0's a month ago.:thumbs up:
Got both tires replaced with Metzler ME 880's two weeks ago.:thumbs up:
Next I think I am going to try and polish the Carb Scoops to give them the polished aluminum look like in this link http://www.geocities.com/am20924/VMaxPolish.html?200728 Does anyone have any better suggestions on how to get this done? I check at the local shop on all the stuff to do this and he wanted $140 port all the Rouge and polishing compounds and buffing wheels.:hmmm:

Thinking perhaps a new seat too but I can't find any other than Corbin.... If anyone has any advice on this let me know too please. Corbin is a little pricey for my taste.:th_biggun:

It didn't cost me anywhere close to 140 to get all the stuff I needed. I did mine last year for around 30 - 40 bucks. It takes a hell of allot of work to do this. Just stipping them down takes allot all on it's own. The buffing wheels can be expensive depending where you buy them. The jewlers rouge is a only few bucks though. What will you be using to do the polishing ? A drill will work but watch out you don't slip with it. Many times I had to buff out deep scratches I put in them with the chuck on the drill. It really pisses you off when that **** happens, but you have to push quite hard to make any progress - trust me !

I was happy with the results however I think I can make them better if I'm willing to put in some more time on them.

If some one could build a good jig to hold them and use a good hand polisher ( like his ) it would make the job so much ez'r for sure. I used the combo between a hand drill and a bench grinder with buffing wheels on it. ( I went too soft ) I should have used a more aggessive wheel. I tried to clear coat them for protection- which was a desaster.....I ended up stippping that all off and now all I use is a really good car wax on them to keep them looking good - every few days. There was a guy on the forum - who did clear coat and was really happy how they looked when he was done. However, for me the clear coat took away from the mirror look I was looking for. I don't ride in the rain if I can help it but if they do get wet I dry them as soon as I get the bike home. I do the whole bike anyways, but I was just making a point.

It's rather a big job and can be rather time consuming so be prepared. If I had the money - I'd get them chromed. No bull **** and they will look awesome for a really long time - if you take care of them.

Good luck - and feel free to ask me any questions. I will try to help.

Sears sell everything you need, One buffing wheel and a multipack of those clay polishing bars is really all you need. The cqarb covers are smooth enough already that you can't go straight to the polish and skip the sandpaper.

You'll need paint stripper to remove the clear coat if it's still on there.

Duh ! Sorry, I didn't read the post properly. I seen scoops and flew off the handle...I thought you were talking about them, I see now it was the diaphram covers. My mistake, however the info stays the same. Now that I blurbed all that out - I hope that maybe somebody out there was wondering about refinishing the scoops. If so there ya go - my 2 cents. :ummm:

The Corbin sucks in stock form anyway so get with Sean Morley and he can build you a reshaped stocker for less and it looks 10 times better! :thumbs up:
