I know it's an 89 VMax Engine but lately I've been wondering what's inside making it tick... It has an irritating knock at idle. Sounds almost like a spark knock. When running and warmed up, it's way faster than my 94. The 94 seems to be running perfect. I thought catching up with my buddies...

I replaced the battery with an Odyssey PC680 and tried cranking the 1993 max. Nothing.... so I then ran a jumper from the + post to the starter and got it to fire right up. It ran for about 20 minutes and I drove it around my storage unit property before going to get a friend to follow me home...

Here is the deal, I just replaced the Ignition box on my 85 max ( miss ,crack ,pop thread in carb area ) After I zipped everything up bike was running great except as soon as I came outa neutral the bike quits, like the kill switch. I assume it is the kick stand relay/switch, how wierd that...

I removed the intake manifolds from #3 and #4 cylinder heads. The right side.. Oil was leaking out of the bolt holes for #3:ummm: but not #4. Why would these bolt holes be connected to a oil gallery or return?:ummm:

A while ago I did the COP conversion on my 86 Vmax,started it and it idled ok and then died,blew a fuse and I replaced it.Checked all my wiring reread the cop installs and went and started it .Idled ok and started to die so I revved it and it died .one blown fuse and the dreaded smell of burning...
