OK, anyone planning on going? I have given it some thought in great detail. It's not worth driving 1000+ miles and spending time off from work for a simple test and tune which this obviously is. I am however considering flying in (and collecting my $1000 to win bet - LOL). I have found some (fairly) reasonable flights into Cleveland and the "rent-a-wreck" prices for cars isn't bad either. I'd probably fly in Sat evening (shows around 6:00pm) and then fly out by a little after 5:00 that Sunday.

I am pretty sure I have someone going with one of my Jet Kits on their bike so I can still race and be within Jon's "rules". It will still be a strange bike to me but that doesn't have me concerned in the slightest.

Anyway, IF (and it's still a big IF), I do decide to fly in I can always bring some more kits and help get them installed for anyone interested. I'd need to get an idea in advance so I can get the parts and have the kits ready to go before I leave.

:hmmm: I may be up to that.. as long as you don't blow the mofo up! 2 motor swaps in 1 season would be too much! Plus I could claim the 1/4 run time print out as my own! (I'm assuming it WON'T be a 15 sec run! LOL ) . My bike will be set up as an 88 with a fairly fresh 02 motor, I already have your jet kit, radials (18 front, 17 rear 180), solid motor mounts and a Kerker 4-2-1 with a 1.5 and 2.5 baffle. If we could get Jim to remove the 1428 tag off the side of his motor, his would be the more "interesting" choice! :biglaugh:

I usually try not to brag too much but I would estimate myself to be one of the fastest guys at the track on a Vmax.

Your setup would probably run great and Jeff is also talking about going though we would have to take off the NOS bottle so Jon doesn't whine about cheating.

Radials do help and are shorter so they help acceleration too. Low 11's are what I would expect with that kind of combo and if the air and my launch is good a possible high 10. I do like to have a good clutch though and not sure what you have. My preference is the "double d" but I have had good track luck with the PCW spring too. The Barnett slips for me at the track.

I still have the original side plates......... could let Sean take mine down the track:punk:. If you are still going let me know and I will cruise down with you. Might let a pro like Sean run mine down the track just to see what it can do:th_image003: with someone who knows how to drag race at the controls.

What are the rules really other than internally stock motor?

If those are the only rules I would think Cornell's gonna show up with an internally stock Vmax stripped down to the freaking bone and setup for 1/4mile only. Maybe even with a closed loop cooling with no radiator (I don't know if you could do that on a Max but I've seen it done on cars all the time)

I would think tiny gas tank, tiny battery, one brake in the front, no headlight or instrumentation, every single piece of non-critical stuff removed, A skinny wire wheel in front, The skinniest lightest set of front forks that could be found, the lightest rear wheel possible,... etc would bring one down to 500lbs or so, maybe less, I'm guessing:ummm:

I've got my bike down to 580 wet on reserve now...and it's a daily driver....

I know if I had talked all the **** he has I would show up with something like that since my rep was on the line..........

Might be kinda hard to beat something like that with someones daily driver:confused2:

Just wondering out loud, since I don't follow the Yahoo groups anymore I don't know what the rules really are.....

Rusty

He might be using chain drive too. The stock final drive is heavy!

yea, of course all that would come out if it was that way. I do have a set of Kosmans I thought about sending jeff (or installing at the topeka dyno day). They are lighter weight fronts and huge rear (200/50/18) with braced swingarm. I even thought about moving over my 17" rear setup to whoevers bike with 3" over and sticky tire so I can launch it harder.

Sean

That would be funny if he spent the time and money to do all of that. We all know $$ can buy speed. It sounds like Cornell has two adjendas... one to "prove" he has the best set-up (at a high price), and the other is to "prove" he is the better rider boasting about his 600cc records and what not.

It would be interesting to have Sean and Jon switch bikes.... that should show/prove who is the better rider. As far as determining the best set-up, that is really the owners decision. I think both Sean and Jon should be able to list all the mods, and have a price associated with those mods so fellow V-Maxers can make thier own decision about the best set-up for their own bike.

I am getting pretty excited about this even if the track isn't rented out just for us. I still think we need to make the most out of it and have a good V-Max weekend! It looks like Sat. is full of the track's regular races, and I wouldn't mind seeing some of that, but I also think we can get together and maybe get a nice ride in too. I'm not exactly sure when I'll be getting into town, but I'm thinking I'll take the day off of work on Friday to make the trip so we should be in town Friday night.

If anyone is local to the area and wants to set up a meeting place Friday night we could all grab a bite to eat or we could plan on meeting at a specific place at the track on Sat, and we could at least have a sheet with cell phone numbers on it so we can all meet up as people get in.... just some ideas to kick around.

Jeff

There's an idea. After the first race swap bikes. Take the average of the two runs and the best number wins.

That will solve the problem if Jon cheats....

Jeff and I talked this morning about having a tent for all of us VMF or Sean's Camp people to be in and use to get out of the sun or whatever.

I agree that we should do that.

When do you Canucks think you're coming down? I wouldn't mind driving over on Friday at least if not Thursday so I can spend a little time riding with all of you.

Let us know and Jeff and I are looking at setting something like this up some how. Whether it's through a local yocal or on our own.

It's a distance out so planning is difficult and if my back is no better then I will not be making it. Sitting for more than 30 minutes is pure agony!

Chris

I wasn't going to go if no one else was.Since it is only 2 hours from me it's not as big of a deal.So if some of you are going I'll be there.

Ok, roll call. I am going to reserve my ticket tonight if there is going to be a few guys show up. Namely one with a bike to ride. I think Jeff has volunteered that oportunity as well as a few others.

Just want to make sure I am not wasting my time. Also, wouldn't mind sharing a room for the evening on Sat.

Sean Morley

Yea, that's why I am only flying in since it is a regular test and tune day. I'm not going to waste the fuel to haul my bike there for a few passes.

Well I'm guessing that I will already be staying with someone but if not you are more than welcome to use my room... I mean I always get two beds but I DO NOT sleep with other men. NO WAY NO HOW! You are welcome to sleep on the floor though. I will go on record as saying that if my back isn't up to par I won't be going. I think by the middle of July that it should be good.:thumbs up:

Topeka has me worried though...:bang head:

Hey Shawn, We totally could use your EZ up and if anyone has another one that would be great. I'll see if we have one at work and grab it too.:thumbs up: The more shade we have the better. I burn! lol

Who is where up there?

I can't look at frappr (put your self on the map) on our server at work...

I'm looking at mapquest and it looks like.

Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Akron
Columbus
Toledo
Indianapolis

Are "close"

I'm thinking about flying up just to watch

Any of these could be done for about $300 round trip....

Wouldn't mind if someone could pick me up on the way there are maybe I could fly out to where you live and just ride/drive there and back with you.

I'm not a moocher.

Any takers?

P.S.

Contrary to polular belief I don't fart THAT much and when I do I roll the window down or go outside first:biglaugh:
