Well I was going to Moonshine Il. I ride with a local group which is a chapter from St. Louis. Another person and I where going to meet up with 5 or so from St. Louis. It was 7am we where ready to leave and we get a phone call letting us know that it was a wash out from St. Louis. Raining like mad and they felt it was a little too far to ride in the rain for a burger. The other fellow looks at me and ask well we have full tanks and nothing better to do let take a ride down to Taylorsville lake, about 30 miles or so from where we at. I say ok and lead the way. The fellow moved to Louisville just over a year ago, he can get around but I know the roads. We get out to the lake and have a little something to eat. He decides that he wants to goto the Lexington H-D dealership, being that he owns a H-D. 60 miles or so later we are there, man this place is huge, no wonder the dealer adds so much to the H-D and the H-D stuff their selling. To cover for the hugeness of the place. We walk around the dealership and see lot of H-D stuff too. The sky was over cast when we started out but it looked more and more like it was going to rain. We stop to top off our tanks before heading home. Just as we are getting onto the highway it hits. Now I hate to ride in the rain, been caught in it too many times to know that it hurts, I have my chaps, boots, heavy jacket and full face helmet, however he has on chaps and a jacket and is carrying his beanie helmet in his bag. I drove on through the rain, a little under the speed limit but not to block the traffic flow. He is hiding behind his Memphis shade trying to not take all the rain in the face, lol the harder it rained the slower he got. I felt bad for him but I was like my choice of gear was for rain, I felt it would rain on the ride.

Then again, maybe this is the time to cut-up the faux cover for some additional clearance and a wicked set of louvers!
hehehehe i thought the same thing,

but i like having a tank bag, so the louvers were dismissed, so was thinking of how to recreate this
756c.jpg

or maybe
just buy THIS bad boy
756h.jpg

but i'm gonna pass and just redo the box...maybe. if i can find what i'm looking for with velocity stacks, then i'll focus my energy elsewhere.

What about louvers along the side of the faux cover, preserving the center area for your tankbag. Being that you need some space underneath you would have to raise the center section but I think it should be doable, no?

Good thought Bone, but ya, I made the box way too tall--hard to tell visually, but from just feel alone, there's absolutely no breathing room. Being that I only have skills for knowing how to dremel, I'm just gonna put the box to side for the time being and try out some of maleko's velocity stacks. For the cost to "raise" the lid and cut in louvers or a scoop; or to buy a lid, just so that I could use a $40 airbox just doesn't stomach right. Although a louvered/scooped lid would done right be absolutely sick. DOWN BOY, **kicked Monkey back into cage**. nah, if i'm gonna cash in coins, it would be a lot more cost-effective, just to pay the Master to make me an original.

The modelers would just use some clay to find the space they have between the lid & the cover, then you know how much room for air & how much for a filter.

I have a cool idea for my v-boost you might want to try. I want to try and hook lights up to my v-boost servo so when the bike is boosting the lights will come on. it would look cool at night.

so when the servo gets voltage? probably wouldn't be too bad

an easier way might be to do a WOT switch like available on nitrous kits. altho it wouldn't tie to vboost could be neat too though.

I like the lights, I have some on mine but I do not care for the 'breath, pulse or strobe' effects. I know the cagers will see those flashing lights better than a steady light. I did mine in amber.

Left the house with the bike, going to work today.
My carbon muffler decided to leave us and try to fly away.
Loose bolt I f...:bang head: forgot to tighten up correctly.
Ending up running on the size of the road before somebody drive on it and then looked around for the small mid-pipe.
I finally got everything with scratches, but should be fine for now.

Went to the ofc without muffler and open header :punk:
What a day... Just feeling like shit forgetting a bolt...:bang head:

Yeah, I try to make sure when I work on my bike, nothing is left unbolted just for this scenario to happen. I too did this. Was riding for a week and kept hearing a clanging on the front end, but never knew what it was since all worked perfect. Came to find out that one of my caliper bolts fell out and the second was loose so when I braked hard, it clangs up against the rotor.....OUCH!!!:bang head:

I feel your pain brotha.....

That could have been a disaster! When you work on your bike, you need a system like A & P aviation mechanics have to ensure you do everything you are supposed to. SOmetimes when I am working on my bike and I have to stop, I write myself a note and attach it to the bike to remind myself of some step not yet done.

Yep, if a bolt is in, it is tensioned, or tagged if you don't get the job finished.
I still find the occasional loose one on the final check over. Then I get paranoid, and check it all again, just to be sure.

And god knows how many tools I have left under the bonnets of cars! Heard a whole socket set fall off a leaf spring once.... glad I was still in the driveway.

Maybe I better shut up. :confused2:

This weekend I stripped the peeling clear coat from my sissy bar. Painted it flat black along with the casing for the rear blinkers. It look way better.

I plan on painting my fenders and my faux tank cover this week. I'll be using the black rustoleum spray on truck bed liner for those parts. I thought it would be further out because the tracking number on paint was not updating. It finally updated with a delivery date of today after I put the rear fender back on the bike. :bang head: Luckily it's easy to remove. :clapping:

What lighting system did you get and was it easy to install? Id love to get some red lighting for my bike. Also, does itdrain the battery pretty bad when not running? I'd hate to have to push start my bike because I left the accent light on for a few minutes.

Looks a helluva lot better. good job. are you blackening out your scoops. i was looking for a badge for my exhaust and came across these. maybe you could use them to remedy your lettering situation?

I take it your talking to my posting of my accent LED lights. I just finally got it all working last night so its not really tested. ITS all SMD3 LEDS. I had these all custom designed in China for my specifications. This guy made me a 9 foot reel fully waterproof using black PCB base, SMD3 red LEDs and it can be cut every 3 LEDs. I then made myself 3, 6, & 9 LED strips and did all my own soldering and shrink wrapping. All tied into a remote module under the seat housing. Being LED and very low voltage, I would really doubt it to be a drain on the battery. I run a gel cell battery that puts out the extra cranking power anyhow. Not a concern for me.

Hope this helps
